This is what we would call an Investing Portfolio view.

It appears that the column width stays with the column position and not with the column displayed in that position, so for example the 3rd column is always the width you have set for that column. Does that match what you are seeing?

It would certainly be better if when you moved a column the width moved along with the column.

I edited the title of your post to make it clearer

If you change the view in any way (the order) the columns reset to very wide for all displayed items in the view.

Really? width of a column in the right side of the screen when you change (add, delete, reorder) or customize the view

By "change the order of the view" are you talking about clicking on the column header to change the sort order?

If so, mine doesn't change the width of the columns when I do that.

Column width of say shares, you make it 8 char. wide and if you do anything reorder or add say market value then the column changes to 25? char. wide, it doesnt matter if it before or after it when changing anything

OK I see what you are talking about now.

For me they don't change to "defaults" what is happening is that the "columns" have a width, not the actual "field".  In other words "column 1 has XX pixels" no matter what "field" is displayed in it.

So yes they really should be more "intelligent" about this and keep the sizes with the "fields" not the columns, but it could get pretty complicated to do that given you can add/remove/move fields around.
