Can I use Quicken Mobile exclusively?

I have both Quicken Mac and Quicken Mobile. I will be traveling for an extended period of time (6 months) without access to my desktop Mac. Will I be able to use Mobile exclusively as long as I keep the full subscription?

No. QMobile operates only as an accessory to Q  desktop.  Have you considered "remote access" into your Mac?

I had not considered that. Thanks for the suggestion. Where could I learn more about how to do this?

I'm  only aware of such on the Win side, but I assume such exists on the Mac side also. Probably, just Google that phrase.

Actually, I would answer, yes, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Once your Quicken Desktop data file is synced to the Quicken Cloud dataset that Mobile/Web are the GUIs for it can act independently (with very limited features) for "some period of time".  It has the capabilities to download transactions and enter transactions for instance.  And when you got back to your home computer it should sync back to the Quicken Desktop data file.

The points are that it can't be used "entirely separately".  And I think the longer it goes without syncing to the Quicken Desktop data file ups the risks.  For instance, there isn't any backup/restore with it.  Not to mention any other kinds of problems people have had with it in the first place, for instance sometimes corrupting data files.

Thanks, Chris. I appreciate your detailed answer. Looks like I'm going to need to find an online program as I may not be coming back (if all goes well). I'm hoping all I need to drag around with me is an iPad.

Note depending on your needs Quicken Inc does have an online only product called Simplifi.

But note, it will not import your Quicken data.  You would have to start from scratch.
