@cngeiser17 - Per the following thread (posted in April 2022), a Moderator stated that support for M1 Finance was added for Quicken for Mac only:  https://community.quicken.com/discussion/7911889/m1-finance.  It doesn't say why support was not also added for Quicken Windows but typically that is because the financial institution did not contract with Intuit/Quicken for it.

Here is what I think is going on:

Note that most of the "information" on this mode in the Quicken Mac threads have been about this problem that it caused (there is a workaround to get the details mode back for Vanguard, but it isn't possible for financial institutions that only support the simple investment mode/sub connection method).

Here is the blog post on this mode:

Note this is also mentioned in the Quicken Mac release notes.

I think the key comment made in this thread is "...to be added to our Windows bank list, the request to be added would need to be made and submitted by the financial institution to our service providers. If you want Quicken for Windows to be supported, you will need to contact your financial institution directly and tell them you'd like to download your accounts into Quicken for Windows."
@cngeiser17 - I suspect it is correct it is about the financial institution not wanting to support Direct Connect (probably because of the cost to them) and Quicken for Windows requiring Direct Connect for investment transactions to be downloaded.  If this is the case, you should contact M1 to request they add this service.
It might also be that M1 has opted not to offer DC because it wants to offer EWC+, instead.  EWC+ is going to cost less than DC and it does offer the ability to download investment transactions.  But EWC+ is in the early stages of rollout in Quicken with only 3 financial institutions so far (Schwab last Nov, Paypal last Apr and Chase is in process now).  If I were an investment company wanting to support Quicken I would probably delay that support until I could do it with EWC+...no point in making major cost and resource investment to launch DC support to only have to go through it again when EWC+ can be offered.

@Boatnmaniac I think another point in this is that Quicken Mac has implemented it in a way where they can provide "simple investing" only mode.  As in the financial institution doesn't have to provide the transactions just the shares, prices, and cash amount, which would simplify it a lot for them.

The ones being added on the Quicken Windows side are all giving full transaction information.

The bottom line is I think it isn't just asking the financial institution to support Quicken, it is a matter of Quicken Windows needs to implement this "simple Express Web Connect +" mode, and they haven't done that yet.
