Payee Incorrectly Downloading from Wells Fargo

Good day,
I have had occasional incorrect payee's downloading from multiple accounts at Wells Fargo. For example, a transaction from our Wells Fargo Visa account was downloaded with the payee as Barnes & Nobel, however the website clearly shows the payee as TJ Maxx. This has also occurred on our 2 checking accounts as well. I believe this problem is only occurring with our Wells Fargo accounts but cannot fully verify this.
No Renaming Rules are present and preferences are set so that Quicken does not apply a suggested name to payees and Renaming Rules are set to review/confirm automatically created rules.
Just curious if anyone else has had this problem and if so, what might a solution be to keep this from happening. Thanks.
Best wishes,
Duane

Hello @phdgolf,
Thank you for reaching out to the Quicken Community, though I do apologize that you are experiencing this issue.
First, I suggest creating a test file and adding the Wells Fargo account(s) to see if the same issue occurs with incorrect payees. It is recommended to save a backup before proceeding with troubleshooting steps in the event that you would like to return to your original starting position. Below are instructions on how to create a test file:- Choose File menu > New Quicken File.
- Select New Quicken File.
- Click OK.
- In the File name field, enter the name of the new file, then click Save. Use a name like "Test File" to tell it apart from your main file.
Don't use any of these characters: * ? < > | " : \ / (asterisk, question mark, left and right-angle bracket, pipe, straight quotation marks, colon, BACKSLASH, FORWARD SLASH). Also, don't add the .qdf extension; Quicken does that for you.- Sign in with your Quicken ID. If you are prompted to create a Quicken ID but already have one, click Sign In under the Create Account prompt.
- Select to not use Mobile.
- Click Add Account to start adding accounts to the new file.
After adding accounts, see if you are experiencing the same problems in this test file.
Please let me know how this goes, I look forward to hearing your response.

Did this work? I have a similar problem, but all payees for all wf accounts come in as "*". It has been doing this for several weeks. I called support and they [Removed - Language] me off. They said it wasn't their responsibility and that I needed to call wf. They didn't even try to help with the problem. [Removed - Profanity/Rant]0

The first thing I would do is turn on the Downloaded Payee field and see what it shows. If Wells Fargo is sending the wrong payee there isn't anything Quicken can do. Also note that if the connection type is Direct Connect you can look the OFX log to verify the downloaded payee. Help -> Contact Support -> Log Files -> OFX LogSignature:
