How do I change an online biller from check pay to quick pay?
Hello @Dan Miller,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and telling us about this issue. I'm sorry to hear you're running into this problem. This article provides information on paying using Quick Pay and Check Pay. If the biller accepts Quick Pay, then you should have the option. Are you running into any specific problems when trying to select Quick Pay?
Thank you.
Hi Kristina,
Thanks so much for responding to my question. I have used Quicken and Bill Pay and Bill Manager for several years to track personal and rental expenses and make payments when appropriate. Some time ago I inadvertently set up CITI credit cards for payment specifying Check Pay. All other credit card accounts are set up for Quick Pay and I have not encountered any issues. I have uninstalled CITI and reinstalled, but Check Pay comes up and doesn’t give me the option of Quick Pay. I have already read the article youreferred me to but didn’t find any information about changing an account from Check Pay to Quick Pay. Do you think I missed a step when uninstalling CITI Credit Cards that didn’t totally uninstall it? I appreciate any help you could give me.
Thank you,
Dan
Thank you for your reply,
You didn't do anything wrong. Citi does not support QuickPay anymore; you can click here for more details. That is why CheckPay is the only option for that biller.
Kristina,
Thank you for the update and I appreciate your help, have a great day.
Bottom line: If your bank (the one that runs your checking account) recently required you to reauthorize your checking account and/or your bank has changed from "Direct Connect" to either "Express Web Connect" or "Express Web Connect+" you can no longer use Online Bill Pay direct to the bank or Quicken Bill Manager's Quick Pay function. The bank no longer supports this function through Quicken.
You have these alternatives (in no particular order of preference):
I've been using method #3 for decades, since before the Internet and bank download capabilities were even introduced. It's easy to get used to this process. And I have yet to miss a single payment.
Thanks for the heads up UKR. Is this a new procedure? I hadn't read anything about this change in Bil Manager
There's no change to Quicken Bill Manager. It's the banks making changes, closing the doors to third party data aggregators like Intuit / Quicken, for "improved security" to keep out hackers, they say. So, go with the flow and choose an alternate payment method that is easiest for you.
thank you for the clarification, I’ll go with the flow
