Quicken Add Account- hacked with bogus link? (edit)
Yesterday, 6/12/2023, I was trying to reestablish my Quicken link with my Schwab account. I entered Tools, Add accounts, and entered the Schwab name. (I'm revealing Schwab in case that has something to do with what happened next) Immediately a message appeared that my investment account had been locked because of suspicious activity, and I needed to click on the link that appeared. I had never left Quicken when this message and link appeared. Following the instructions that I thought were coming from Quicken inside the link, I opened my Schwab account. Luckily I eventually caught on, broke the link, and notified Schwab. Quicken needs to know that the Add Accounts feature has been compromised.

Hello @doverjohnson,
Thank you for reaching out to the Quicken Community, though I do apologize that you are experiencing this issue.
After reviewing our internal systems, it seems as though you were prompted to reauthorize your Charles Schwab accounts and were blocked due to incorrectly entering your password too many times.
If you are able to reproduce this issue, would you mind sharing a screenshot of the pop-up that you received? If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to your response if you are not given the option to add attachments. Please remember to redact any personal information as needed.
I also recommend running an anti-virus/malware scan on your PC system.
I look forward to your response.

@doverjohnson - Yesterday, 6/12/2023, I was trying to reestablish my Quicken link with my Schwab account.
the followup question would be -
WHY were you needing to RE-establish the Schwab connection ?Since the original migration to EWC+ last fall - I've had to RE-authorize my Schwab accounts maybe twice -
due to a burb or glitch in the matrix…
each time I just walked thru the entire set of steps I originally used to migrate -0 -
The link between Quicken and Schwab was no longer there. I was trying to re-establish the link. Just went into Tools and then to Add Accounts. As soon as I typed in Schwab, the notices started to appear.

@quickenjasmine,
Thank you for your response.
I had not tried to enter my passwords since they were initially saved in Quicken. Again, I had not changed them since I initially linked my accounts. I noticed that since about 5/31, there have been no downloads, and that is why I contacted Schwab on 6/12.
Two questions here.
Who tried to enter Schwab through my Quicken account using an incorrect password?
And why was I then directed to call Broadview Ntwks at 888-806-9851?
I do not expect you to have the answers, but hopefully, Quicken can investigate. Please forgive me for being timid. However, I have no intention to try and reproduce the events to try and obtain a screenshot. Once burned, twice shy. I have had Norton run a complete scan, and they removed malware placed in my system after I started following the instructions from Broadview Ntwks (if that is even who they were). They found nothing that had been infected before 6/12.
Please feel free to contact me directly at my email address.
