Transferring from MS Money in Windows to Quicken on a Mac?
I have been using a MS MyMoney5 program for years on a Dell desktop and just purchased an iMac and Quicken and am having trouble transferring the files. I called support and was told it isn't possible to transfer the data from windows to Mac but, from looking through some of the conversations, I get the impression it is possible. Please advise.

You have to go through Quicken Windows, and then convert that data file in Quicken Mac.
Note link to sunset version of MS Money is broken (no longer exists) in the article, if you need it here is a link to the installer:

I would like to suggest that you try to find a different PC to perform your MS Money to Quicken Windows conversion.
Your Money version is so old, I'm afraid that Money Sunset version might not be able to read and convert it.
That means, you do not want to disturb your Dell / MS Money 5 environment and keep it untouched as a fallback option. Installing Money Sunset typically uninstalls the old Money 5 program.
And do keep plenty of backups of your Money 5 file in a safe spot … just in case.Copy your MS Money 5 file to that "different PC", install Money Sunset on it, try opening the file with Money Sunset.
If it works, verify that the converted file has the same account balances as reported by Money 5 and that there are no other loose ends.
And only if it works, proceed with installing Quicken 2013 on the "different PC".
If successful, again check the conversion results and fix any discrepancies. After all the above and only after creating backups of your Q 2013 file proceed with the conversion to Q Mac
Good luck!
And keep us posted. Let us know about all the goods, the bads and the uglies encountered along the way.0 -
Thank you for all the help. I was able to successfully transfer my data to the MS Sunset and then to Quicken on a PC. From there it was easy to transfer it over to the account I had for my Mac. Thank you all for the help. You were all much more helpful than the customer support from Quicken.
