Add end date for paychecks
Adding a paycheck has a start date but no end date. An end date would be helpful when planning for a known change in income. Thank you!

I'm voting for this. It has been requested in the past, but the previous Idea posts have been closed and archived. Hopefully it will get enough votes this time to be considered for implementation.

The original request / Idea,
was archived without any further explanation. At least, it should be restored from Archive so that it can be read by others.
And this idea should really be implemented. There are numerous reasons why one needs to be able to set an End Date for the current paycheck reminder, e.g., end of job, layoff, teacher's unpaid summer vacation, retirement, etc.
Please consider making this change ASAP.

And I might add for the situations that this applies to, it causes the Tax Planner/Tax reports to be wrong.

This is a real problem for anyone trying to capture future changes in pay amounts or schedules. It really throws off any planning.
Please add an end date!

Like others I am approaching retirement and would like to be able to end date the paycheck, much like other scheduled transactions.

I'm sorry, but this is sheer idiocy not to have it as an option.

Agree this would be very useful.

Also- Why is there no date box under earnings, in the edit box, allowing me to switch the account where my earnings land on a specific date.

A Split or Paycheck transaction with transfers to other accounts can only have one date assigned to it, the date the paycheck is deposited to your checking account. If it takes several days for the transfer to a retirement account to arrive, you can either accept the fact that the date is off by a couple of days or you can do the following:
Create and use an intermediary account (exists only in Quicken as an offline checking account).
In the paycheck transaction deposit the transfer to this [intermediary account].
Create and use another scheduled transfer reminder to transfer the money from the intermediary account to the retirement account register and date it using the actual date the transaction arrives at the retirement account.0 -
Hi UKR,
I’m sorry, I wasn’t being clear. I’m trying to change the landing account from my checking account on a certain day( need an end date) On that date forward, have a split landing between my savings and brokerage accounts (I need two separate ending dates), and then on another future date, change the Landing account to a third completely different account with one ending date.
The reason for doing this is the changing interest rates. I will be closing some accounts, adding some accounts, and needing to have my paycheck land temporarily in a third account.0 -
@Wee ,
as with Paycheck Reminders and all Scheduled Reminders, there's currently no way to plan ahead and make changes to future instances of a reminder that are not the "next instance". You need to wait until the reminder's next instance is the one that needs changing and then you can make your change.OTOH, if the programmers really got around to changing the Paycheck Reminders and added a Reminder End Date, then you could set the End Date on the current reminder and add a new Paycheck Reminder with a future starting date, reflecting the desired changes. But don't hold your breath. This might not happen anytime soon.
On second thought, instead of having to ask your Payroll department to make frequent changes to your paycheck, how about leaving that unchanged.
Always deposit your paycheck to your primary checking account.
After the money arrives, you can setup reminders, both at your bank and in Quicken, to transfer portions of the money to the desired savings or brokerage accounts. Those reminders you can change as often as needed. All the transfer functions already exist in Quicken and at the bank.0 -
There is going to be a complete geographic change of all accounts.

Adding another vote to be able to add an End Date for a paycheck for the same reasons that have already been noted in this discussion.

Another vote for end date on paycheck. Towards the end of year, one might have their SSN deductions go to zero for the remainder of the year and then restart in the new year.

Retiring in a couple of months and having an end date for paychecks would greatly help in determining projected balances so i know exactly how fast i would need to start pulling from retirement savings/401K's
