Pie Chart serves NO UTILITY. Pie Chart is a waste of space on my screen. I need to turn it off.

There are lots of places in Quicken where you see pie charts. Which one(s) do you want to remove?

I also agree, it is really in the way. The pie chart is the one that is more of a circle that pops up when you open the spending tab and stays above the transaction list.

I would have no problem voting for an option to hide the graph on the Spending tab if that is actually what this request is, since @RTPNC hasn't come back and clarified that we don't know that for sure. But I definitely disagree about its usefulness, in fact, it almost the only thing my wife looks at. Which is what she does to get more details/filter the Home "See Where Your Money Goes" widget.

I think I have used the list under it about 2 times in the whole time I have used Quicken.

The way I use Quicken For Mac, I would vote for a global button to allow users to turn off all pie charts across the entire app. I simply never use them. When I click on All Transactions and then select Spending, a full 1/3 of my screen is wasted on the (unused) pie chart. It's hard to ignore. Other than that, I find QFM to be an excellent tool.

    Thanks,

It's the SAME pie chart EVERYONE is talking about. The Spending Tab. It is a useless hog of screen space and no, you cannot remove the Spending tab.

"EVERYONE" is 6 people? Including 2 SuperUsers trying to understand the situation … so really only 4 users.

Quick google search reveals who "everyone" is.

Google search for how to get rid of quicken pie chart

It's the first thing you see when you click on any account in the left accounts nav column and then select Spending or Income for that account. Quicken allows you to collapse or expand the left accounts list column. Expand that if not already, and click on ANY account. Most or many of us want to see the transactions. That's our primary goal yet 2/3 of the screen is taken up by Account Name title area, Transaction type and date range area, and the dreaded income/spending pie chart wheel, which takes up nearly 50% of the vertical screen space. They way I use quicken I am never interested in this pie chart. I'm wanting the transaction list. If you like it - fine. Just give me the option to hide it, minimize it, get rid of it. I have no problem with you leaving yours on. The fact that some people have a problem with those of us who want to turn it off doing so is just stupid. I don't care if you don't understand the reason I want it off. The fact that I do is reason enough for the programmers to enable the option. The fact that so many of us want to turn it off - even more reason.

I was needing to quickly get to all income for a 2 year period for one specific account. Very quick to click the account, click income, then set the date range. I ended up doing a File>Export to csv so I could look at the transactions in spreadsheet. It was much easier to view the transactions this way. That's pretty sad program design if I have to offload data somewhere else to view it more easily.

Helpful tip, but not a complete solution:
getting rid of the pie chart

Your Google search hit a total of 8, with some pointing to Quicken Mac (which is quite different) and others point to the same thread, and yet another one talking about something completely different. "Everyone" doesn't seem to be many, and not too important to the original poster to at least come back and say "Spending tab".

At any rate, I have flagged this for the moderator to update it so include the "Spending tab" in the idea description.

I will also point out that no one other than the original "automatic" poster's vote has actually voted for this. If you want this implemented, you need to vote for it. And it usual takes 50 votes for them to even consider an idea.

And I definitely disagree with the original statement that the pie graph has no utility. In fact, it one of the main things my wife looks at in Quicken.

I agree that the pie chart is ridiculously large, over 1/2 of my screen. BUT, I'd be happy if it could just be reduced in size.

You sure can remove the Spending tab. Just go to Tools > Tabs to View > uncheck "Spending". (This is applicable to QWin. I don't know about QMac which a different program.)

Who has said they have a problem with turning it off? No one that I saw. I did see some posts saying they would support making the pie chart optional (which is what the person posting this idea requested) and I think that would be a great idea because while some might not like the pie chart there are others who relate better to pie charts than to numbers. So, I think being able to opt to have a pie chart or not have a pie chart is, IMO, a good idea.

In addition, some people here have asked for clarification about which pie chart is to be turned off. Others have jumped in and expressed their own opinions on which pie chart that might be but the person who posted this Idea has not yet confirmed that they are referring to the Spending pie chart or to some other pie chart(s)….yes, there are others. That person needs to clarify their idea post or this idea will go nowhere.

As a final comment: Please do not disrespect others like you did. This is a users forum for having civil discussions between users. State your opinion but do not call others "stupid" for expressing some other or opposing opinions.

    UPDATE

I didn't notice this at first, but the original poster is a Quicken Mac user, but the idea is posted in the Quicken Windows category. What's more there are both Quicken Mac and Quicken Windows users replying to this idea thread.

Quicken Mac and Quicken Windows aren't even close when talking about this subject.

At this point I now suggest that this thread be closed and that the people that want these ideas to properly submit them to the correct forum category(s). Go to the Home page and select New Post → New Idea.

I will also point out that for Quicken Windows "not showing the Spending Tab" is most likely not what anyone here wants, and has more ramifications that people might not understand. The Spending Tab is the "go to place" for "drilling down" from different places in Quicken Windows.

For instance, the main way my wife and I use it is by having the "See Where Your Money Goes" on the Home tab, and then when we want to see more details select the "Examine Your Spending" button or clicking on a category in the pie gram in "See Where Your Money Goes". This takes you to the Spending tab, pre-filtered to what was selected on the "See Where Your Money Goes".
