How can I stop investment values in one account from being updated. I have the same investment in multiple accounts and would like for the other accounts to be updated.

The only way I know of to stop the investment values in an account from being updated is to deactivate that account. But that will also stop all new transactions from being downloaded. Is that really what you want to accomplish? If so, go to Account List > Edit button (of the account you want deactivated) > Online Services tab > Deactivate. This account will no longer update but all other accounts will continue to update.

If, however, what you are trying to accomplish is to exclude that one account from your Net Worth and other reports/views: Account List > Edit button (of the account you want deactivated) > Display Options tab > check the box for "Keep this account seperate…." > OK. This account will then be placed at the bottom of the Account List side bar on the left side of the screen and it will no longer be included in any reports or tools (like Tax Planner or Lifetime Planner) but it will continue to be updated with new transactions.

If neither of these are what you want or are trying to accomplish: Please provide more explanation about what it is you are trying to accomplish.

Or is it actually that you don't want the security prices to be updated in just one account? In that case you would have to deactivate it from transaction downloading and if the securities are publicly traded, also disable quote downloading.

If you hold the same securities in other accounts and do want the quotes updated for them, you would have to set up different securities and un-check the Download Quotes box.

Can you explain what you are trying to accomplish?

Recently, my TDAmeritrade account was moved to Schwab. I have deactivated downloads from TDAmeritrade accounts. However, the TDAmeritrade securities are still updating prices. I want to turn that feature off, if possible, but still allow the securities in the Schwab accounts to continue to update the security price.

I am trying to identify a way to update security prices in the Schwab account but turn off that feature in the old TDAmeritrade accounts.

    However, the TDAmeritrade securities …

Does that refer to all the securities that were in the TDA account, or to TDA-specific securities not available outside of TDA?

In either case, why are there securities in the TDA account? Weren’t they all moved over to Schwab, in which case they should have been removed from the TDA account?

I'm confused…. weren't all the TD accounts transferred over to Schwab -
and therefore should only be tracking in the Schwab account ?

If you still have some TD accounts in Quicken that appear as "live" even though they are not -
    that is a different Q&A -
and the securities in the TD accounts should have been REMOVED and then ADDED to the Schwab accounts.

Let's be clear about one thing. If you hold a security in more than one account, and you download quotes for that security, the security held in ALL accounts will update … even if you don't want to otherwise update that account.

This will cause the "investment value" in all accounts that hold that security to update.

The only way to avoid this would be to create a phony security for the account that you don't want to update.
