Can't Activate Update for Treasury Direct CC-501
I'm using Quicken Classic Deluxe on Windows 11. I've been trying to set up automatic updates for treasurydirect.gov .2 years without success. I hoped the Direct Connection would fix the problem, but it persists.
Quicken lists the correct financial institution and I select it. I enter my user name and password in the setup window. Quicken then returns a window asking for the OTC that Treasury Direct sends to my email. I enter the OTC, Quicken thinks a while, and then sends me the CC-501 error.
I talked to Quicken customer support (Ticket ID 10731336), who said I need to speak to Treasury Direct. I talked to Treasury Direct who said they couldn't help me, they had no control over this. I also wrote Treasury Direct and their reply said that they can't respond to emails due to the heavy volume of requests.
I'm assuming the problem is that, unlike almost every place else, Treasury Direct asks for the OTC after the asking for user id and before asking for the password and that Quicken can't handle that odd sequencing. I don't understand why they have it in the list of automatic update institutions if they can't make it work.😡

I spoke to an agent yesterday (case number 11084942) and he had me try the automatic update and send the logs after it failed. After he spoke to second level support, we validated my file and tried again, but it still didn't work. He spoke to second level support again, and then told me that Quicken doesn't support auto update of securities accounts, only savings and checking, from this bank (www.TreasuryDirect.gov). I'll just keep entering them manually. At least he didn't send me on another wild goose chase.
Today, I looked and realized that TD.gov only has securities (no savings or checking) so perhaps second level support thought it was one of the other banks that use "Treasury Direct" in their names. Whatever. I'm done trying to get this to work.
