Downgrading Subscription from Premier to Deluxe - Bye

I just got off the phone with Quicken Support. I wanted to downgrade my subscription from Premier to Deluxe, but the Quicken Rep said it was not possible. I thought it was possible and to do it while your subscription was still active you were to call Quicken Support?

Do I really need to wait for my current subscription to expire before I can downgrade?

Why would you want to downgrade during the current subscription period and, presumably, after the 30-day return policy has expired?

After the return policy has expired, you're not going to get a refund.

guess you can't downgrade and get a pro-rated extension or refund -

but - can you upgrade and pay a pro-rated difference ?

No refund after 30 days. Really quite simple.

@NotACPA there are many reasons. I only upgraded to Premier in anticipation of a certain event, but it looks like that is not happening. I also no longer want to be a part of Beta. So, I would rather be on Quicken Deluxe. I don't use or need the features that Premier offers. I don't do any trading or need any specialized investment tools or reports. My investment manager handles all of that. I don't really need the canned tax reports. I can create my own tax reports if I need them. I don't use the budget feature at all. I created my own "Zero Balance" budget process on Quicken. I have disconnected all my accounts that use EWC or EWC+.

I don't need to pay for all the extra stuff that I never use. I was hoping that Quicken Support would have been able to extend my subscription in exchange for downgrading to Deluxe now.

But really, it's no big deal to wait till my subscription nears expiration and deal with it then. The only thing is that it goes out to 9/5/2025.

I realized that all of the "bells and whistles" are causing me more issues than they are worth. Recently negative balances are appearing in accounts I closed 20 years ago. Transactions are spontaneously being deleted. I can do a validate to correct the negative balances, but I have to manually re-enter the missing transactions, after I am able to determine which ones they are. This type of stuff has been happening too often without any explanation. This was also the same thing that happened right before my catastrophic data file failure back in August 2023. I am concerned that another "failure" is looming. So that is another reason why I want to limit my exposure with Quicken.

How do you have a subscription that goes out more than one year?

@NotACPA Let's just say that just because they say that they cannot do something doesn't make it necessarily so.

Easy, you apply a 12 month subscription extension to your account when you have 6 months left and your expiration date is 18 months out.

I don’t think downgrading from Premier to Deluxe will have any impact on the issues with old accounts suddenly getting a balance or transactions spontaneously deleting.

I agree. Premier is just a thin layer of features on top of Deluxe. The database operations - and defects - are the same.

@Rocket J Squirrel @mshiggins my purpose for downgrading was not to prevent the database issues I have been having lately. I know that it won't help those issues. In a sense I am simplifying things and lessening my exposure with Quicken. I realized that having Premier was not benefit for me. I cannot in good conscience support Quicken any more than I need to. In my opinion Beta's efforts are admirable, but not enough to make a difference. I really enjoyed helping other users in this forum, but continually being censored and snubbed by the moderators made me realize that this forum is not a good fit for me, and I may have overstayed my welcome with some "super fans" who only want to hear good things about Quicken.

I think both of you are great and have enjoyed reading your posts. Along with @Chris_QPW, @Ps56k2, @Boatnmaniac, you all have made it a great experience. @markus1957 doesn't speak much, but he is a wealth of knowledge, and he was the only one that clued me in to what the fix was for my catastrophic issues back in August 2023.

Lastly, I would like to thank @Quicken Alvin from the "Office of the President". He is the first and only person from Quicken Inc. that was able to respond to my questions and concerns and do so without judgement. I feel really good about the decisions I made to secure my Quicken data file and financial information going forward.

(I know that this might be a laughable way to leave, but I wanted to say "thank you" to those that made the time in this forum enjoyable. I will not respond to any comments to this post, or any other post. I just didn't want anyone to think I was rude.)
