I'm having the exact same issues. Would LOVE to hear more from Quicken…

    Hello @Miller Man,

To assist with this, please provide more detail. When did you first notice this problem? What exactly is happening when you run One Step Update? At what point is it freezing? Do you have the Sync to Quicken Cloud option selected in the One Step Update Settings window?

If you unselect it, does the One Step Update still freeze?

How long have you waited for the update to complete? Does it ever complete on it's own, or do you have to force the program to close?

What troubleshooting steps have you already done to attempt to resolve this issue?

I look forward to your reply!

Same problem. Most recent version of Quicken Classic, did the super validate, deselected cloud updates. Still freezes and never finishes.

    Hello @dmyford@,

To assist with this issue, please provide more information. When did you first notice this issue? Which version of Quicken were you using when it started? Is your Quicken file located directly on your local hard drive? Is the file synced with any cloud services, such as OneDrive, iCloud, or Dropbox? Are you able to update one financial institution at a time, or does it freeze no matter how many financial institutions are selected?

I look forward to your response!

Three months ago. I'm using R60.15, Windows 11. Not backing up to any cloud service (that I am aware of), program and data file on my hard drive. It will update credit card and savings account but it freezes and never finishes. When I quit and relaunch, I can retrieve the updates. [Edited - Readability]

Yes, it freezes no matter how many accounts are checked for update. I suspended my account for a month because of this issue. I re-subscribed and performed a clean download of this version yesterday.

Thank you for your reply @dmyford@,

To clarify, when you said you did a clean download, do you mean you uninstalled/reinstalled Quicken, or do you mean you reinstalled the most recent update?

Issues with freezing can be caused by file-specific issues. Please try restoring a backup from before the problem started and test to see if the issue is resolved in that newly restored file.

Please let me know how it goes!

  • I solved the problem for me by turning off Pending Transactions (edit/preferences/PendingTransactions).

    Hello @James Miller,

Thank you for coming to the Community to share what fixed the issue for you! To clarify, was your Quicken freezing during the Online Services part of the One Step Update process?

    Thank you!

I've been having problems with this for the past couple of months. I tried validating and supervalidating, neither of which helped. I finally turned off mobile services and have been using just the desktop version. It updates fine when mobile services is turned off. I tried turning it back on today and once again it hung up during one step and I had to kill it via Task Manager. It's getting very frustrating not being able to sync entries from the mobile app. I'm running Quicken Classic Deluxe, v. R60.15, build 27.1.60.15, on Windows 11. A permanent fix for this would be very much appreciated.

Thank you for your reply @Nicnic,

Please check your Quicken file location. Is your Quicken file directly on your local hard drive? A simple way to see where your Quicken file is located is in the Quicken program, go to File. Then, just above the Exit option, it will list the 4 Quicken files you've most recently opened, with the file you're currently in at the #1 spot.

If your file is not on your local hard drive, please try closing your Quicken program, moving the file to your local hard drive, then double click on the file to re-open your Quicken file from its new location, and test to see if the issue persists.

Is your file synced with any cloud services, such as OneDrive, iCloud, or Dropbox? If it is, please try pausing that service while you are using your Quicken file, and test to see if that resolves the issue.

If the above does not help, then the next step would be restoring a backup from before the issue started and testing to see if the issue persists in that newly restored file.

Please let me know how it goes!

By "synced with any cloud services" does that include back-ups?

  • Quicken Kristina

    Thank you for your reply,

No. I'm referring to your main Quicken file only. Syncing backup files to a cloud service is a good idea, provided that the cloud services's security/privacy policies meet your needs, since it is a form of off-site storage that can help you recover your backups in the event of a disaster or computer issue.

    Thank you!

As far as I know, it isn't syncing with a cloud service, but please let me know how to check that.

In the meanwhile, I moved the Quicken file to my local hard drive. Restarted Quicken from there but had the same hang issue when I turned on mobile and web services, then tried to update even just one account.

    Thank you for your reply,

If your main file is synced with a cloud service, you will often be able to see it in the file path. In your Quicken, if you go to File and look at the 4 most recent files you've had open (just above the Exit option), you should be able to see the cloud service name in the file path, if the file is synced to it.

Do you use a VPN or antivirus? Do you see any pop up messages from Windows Defender when you run One Step Update in Quicken?

    Thank you!

In trying to understand why the One Step Update is so slow, Validating my data file and following other suggestions found on this and related threads, my file is now corrupted and after restoring an old file is leading to the same painful One Step Update error.

Customers should not have to be Quicken experts to keep thier files functional, functionality should be a given for this product. That is what I paid for.

I have the same issue in that One Step Update that happens when you start Quicken Classic freezes and after a very long time, it sometimes finishes, but really hasn't updated all the accounts. When I just select an individual account (like USAA) it also freezes and maybe 10 minutes later it might finish, but not every thing in my account is synched. This is an issue that makes Quicken Classic unusable for me and if it's not resolved in a very quick update I'll have to move to another platform.

    Hello @jrholden43,

I'm sorry to hear that One Step Update (OSU) is being so slow and not all financial institutions are updating. So that we can better assist, please provide more information. Which financial institutions are not updating? If you unselect those from the OSU Settings screen, does the OSU complete faster? Are you able to update the problem financial institutions separately, such as by selecting one of the accounts, clicking the gear icon in the upper right, and selecting Update Now?

I look forward to your reply!
