Online Connectivity Issues [Edited]

I'm very disappointed with Quicken. Actions that you take can have downstream consequences that are highly inconvenient - for example, "resetting" an account doesn't tell you that you will essentially be destroying all connectivity security along with it. . Direct Connect seems very fragile and doesn't work correctly - bank transactions that have been cleared for months don't show up, and there's no explanation why.. Setting up a connection with one of the largest banks in the United States - takes seven to ten days? This isn't good at all. How do I cancel my subscription, as Quicken has been nothing but a headache since I subscribed to it.

Elaborate. HOW does Direct Connect not work correctly … as it's considered to be Q's MOST RELIABLE download method. But it's ENTIRELY dependent upon what the FI, in their sole discretion, sends.

    Be specific.

Thank you, NotACPA. Perhaps it's my FI, but when I look at my checking account register entries, I see that many checks that have cleared the bank (as verified by lookup on my bank's website), simply never download into the register. In addition, also perhaps due to my FI, which as mentioned is one of the largest in the country - they state that setting up Direct Connect requires a PIN, to be sent by mail (snail mail, not secure email or SMS), that will take seven to ten days to be delivered. To me this is rather odd for the technology we have available to us in the year 2024.

As to Quicken itself, I think more detail should be included in the documentation as to the consequences of certain actions, as with my experience with "resetting" an account - a better description would have been "completely deleting it". So, disappointing, especially since the product has so many features that are in fact quite useful and would certainly be worth the price, notwithstanding the issues with setting up Direct Connect, and subsequent downloads using it, with my bank.

Frustration resolved… but a little clarity from Quicken might have helped… I'm not interested in making banking transactions from Quicken, so I've no need for Direct Connect - Web Connect is fine, and you don't need a PIN for that. A little clarity from my bank, and also from Quicken, would have saved me quite some frustration. Overall, I do think Quicken is a fine product, but a little more attention to how users might interpret system messages would help. For example, if you've recently changed your password, you might get a "Quicken online services are not available" message, not an invalid password message. I had to Google search to resolve that error.

So in sum, my frustration is resolved, thankfully. And I do think Quicken has great features - I'd suggest that Quicken perhaps try to review their system messages to put them on the same high level as the functionality in the product.
