Can the Reference # field get increased by 2 more characters to allow up to 14?
(Windows Desktop User)
I have created an account in Quicken Classic to track activities for my eBay store.
I am using the Reference # field for the entering of order numbers.
eBay Order numbers consist of 14 characters (numbers and dashes) such as XX-XXXXX-XXXXX
I found that by copy and pasting the order number into the Reference # field, Quicken will truncated the entry at the end by 2 characters to XX-XXXXX-XXX
I would like to see if the Reference # field could be increased by adding 2 more characters to allow up to 14.
Is there anyone else who would like to see if the Reference # field could be increased by adding 2 more characters to allow up to 14 too get entered?
changed by Quicken?

It would be impossible short of a Quicken Windows developer looking this up (and they aren't going to be answering such a question, and certainly not on this forum), but I would suspect that the reference number is stored as an integer, and not some string that you can put arbitrary text into. One thing I can say for sure though, there isn't any way that such a change would be done in a timeframe that would make it practically to consider at this point. In other words, you better find a different way to do it.My mistake, I was thinking of the reference numbers on the tags for some reason.

For a CC account, I can enter 12x3456x7890 into the reference column. Not being stored as an integer.
I can attempt to copy in 12-34567-89012 (14 characters) but only the first 12 get put in. Supporting what the OP has indicated.
I flag this discussion to a moderator to have them move this to the ideas categories of discussion and have the alter the post to an idea. (But don't get your hopes up.)

Hello @rseaman79,
I have changed your post to an idea so that way other users who have a similar request can view this post and add their vote.
Thanks!

Until the programmers get around to implementing this change, which might take a looooong while, may I suggest you use the Memo field instead for your order numbers?
