ELAN transactions not downloading

I noted today (8/23) that transactions from ELAN Financial weren't downloading. I knew there was one transaction to retrieve. Quicken went through all the steps for a download and didn't report any errors, but the transaction I knew was there didn't come across. I did a reset on the account and that didn't resolve the problem. I've noted similar complaints for other financial institutions reported lately.

    Hello @igor74,

    To help troubleshoot this issue, I checked on our end to see if there were any error codes/messages showing on our side. I'm not seeing any errors. Is it just the one missing transaction? What day did that transaction post on the financial institution side?

    Just in case it did download and is being hidden by a filter or the sort order, please make sure the register is sorted by date and click the green Reset button at the top of the register to clear any filters (Note: if you don't see the reset button, that means no filters are active).

    The issue appears to have corrected itself. There was only one transaction involved in this. I was able to download several transactions today (9/4) into Quicken. I don't know why, but every fall, around late August and into September, Quicken download develops problems retrieving transactions from several of my accounts. I've just come to expect it and plan for it.

    I'm glad to hear that the issue appears to have corrected itself.

    If the issues happen around the same time every year and are corrected without any action on your part, it's possible that the issues are being caused by a periodic/scheduled maintenance on the financial institutions' side.

    Having this same issue. It's been ongoing. Transactions do not download and no error given.

    Have you tried to reset the account? (Account Register > upper right Gear icon > Edit Account Details > Online Services tab > Reset Account)

    Hello Kristina and Boatnmaniac,

    I have not kept notes on the date this started on this particular account, at least a few months, likely longer. Yes, sometimes Quicken will download one or two transactions but not the rest. When I check on Elan's website the transactions are there, not pending but do not get downloaded.

    I have reset the account, deactivated and reactivated, and followed all the suggestions on the page you linked that apply to me. I do not add downloaded transactions automatically to my register, I review them and add manually from the downloaded transactions section. The Elan accounts are not the only accounts I have this happen with. Also happens with Discover and Bank of America at times.

    @Ody - Do you have Pending Transactions enabled for these account? If so, you might want to consider disabling that feature…at least for these accounts. Some have reported that having Pending Transactions enabled for some accounts can sometimes result in some posted transactions not getting entered into those accounts, especially when the setting for Pending Transactions is set up to include pending transactions in the register and in the account balance.

    Another thing: Above and to the left of those Account Registers, directly beneath the Account Name, do you see the last download date & time, is that date/time current and in parenthesis following the date/time does it show which connection method is set up and is it accurate?

    Pending transactions is off, I've never had it enabled. You may have hit on a clue to the issue. The register does not show the last download information above the account name. It also does not show on my Bank of America account that I have the same problem with. The Elan accounts are Express Web connect. The Bank of America is Express Web Connect+.

    Since you have been experiencing this issue for a while, there are multiple accounts with this issue and since Reset Account and Deactivate/Reactivate does not resolve the issue for you, it leads me to think that perhaps your runtime.dat file might be corrupted. If that is the case, that file cannot be fixed but it can pretty easily be replaced. It's not hard but it can take a little patience to complete the process.
