How to connect with new Bank of Hawaii online banking interface

Bank of Hawaii just changed its Web and mobile interfaces. This has also apparently changed its Quicken connect interface as I'm now getting the following error message when I try to download transactions:

"Care Code: FDP-102

Details:
FI_TIMEOUT
Retry. Retry Error"

Please advise. Thx

Thanks for the quick response, Anja! I tried the troubleshooting tips with no luck. It may be that the bank is still transitioning so I'll give it another day or two.

You marked this as "resolved" on another article

    (Ticket #11245569)"

    - it is NOT resolved, but I see you've cleverly closed comments on that other ticket so nobody can refute your claim - the error persists, and the situation is still in the same status as it was on the 25th, and 26th.

100% not resolved. Going on almost 2 weeks already, literally since the updates Bank of Hawaii implemented to their online banking. Please fix ASAP!

    understood, and I stand corrected!

Just frustrating and I know you all are doing what you can.

Thank you for re-opening. It was a bit of a shock to see it was closed when still not working.

Silly BoH! They didn’t think this through well. I tried a data download QFX format and THAT fails as well. ☹️

Has anyone gotten this to work yet? I am still dead in the water and now Quicken is rejecting the account and wanting a complete reset - when I do that it says the bank's web server is down (which it is not)..

BoH really messed up here. if the .QFX file would download, at least I could update, but THAT doesn't even work.. [Edited - Language]

it says the bank's web server is down (which it is not)

Just as an FYI, the server that Quicken connects to for downloads is usually not the same server users connect to for the financial institution. It's not unusual for the former to be down/blocked while the latter is functioning normally. (I have no specific information or knowledge about this particular bank.)

Issue is still NOT resolved…been a while now…a bit frustrating since we depend on this technology for something very important…MONEY!!….BOH didn't think this thru…or maybe not many Quicken users on BOH..?

September 3rd and still no resolution to the connection issue with Bank of Hawaii. It has been since the beginning of August. This is the worst case of migration I've experienced.

Still not resolved. Quicken needs to solve this problem ASAP. Understand that number of Quicken users who have Bank of Hawaii is small, but we need the product we paid for to work.

Quicken needs to solve this problem ASAP.

@SubicSquid Unfortunately, Quicken is probably pretty powerless to fix it. Intuit is the company which handles connectivity, so they need to get their systems to work with the revamped BOH servers. And BOH is the main party responsible, since they are the ones who broke the connection to Quicken initially by changing their websites. Have you tried contacting BOH and making a similar demand?

Can confirm issue persists as of September 6 (mark me down as one of the few BOH Quicken users!).

I encountered the same issue in Quicken Classic for Windows error CC-502, waited several days - no luck. I ended up trying a push from BOH instead of a pull from Quicken. My solution:

Have Quicken open, log in to BOH, access the account you want to download, select Transactions from the Activity and Statements menu, then select Download transactions. Choose your financial software (Quicken) from the list provided and enter your preferred Beginning and Ending Dates. Then, click the Download button. A QFX life will be generated. Switch to Quicken and select the existing account to accept the transactions.

Worked fine for me - temporary solution I hope.

From my experience, as mentioned a number of times, the .QFX file download from BoH does not work for me. Quicken fails to load the file import with the error:

"Quicken is unable to verify the financial institution information for this download"

this process works fine for eTrade bank, (Now Morgan Stanley), which is another issue I just gave up on, as i have MFA on that account and Quicken seems incapable of logging into that process, so I just do a .QFX download at least weekly. :(

Not sure why yours worked… 🤷‍♂️

Where is this function now that BOH updated their online banking? I followed your path, but I can't find it with the update.

I found the option here, under each account you can download transactions. I have yet to try and import them though.

Thanks! I missed the download icon on the far right but found it with your help.

After downloading the file, Quicken gave me an error upon import:

I'll try again later, but it's not working as of now.

Tried importing QFX file using option under FILE menu:

to Quicken Classic got this after selecting the QFX file that was downloaded from Web BOH:

I had a telephone appointment with a BOH tech rep today who informed me that the issue of non-connection rests on the Quicken side, and that she understand that the problem should be solved in October or November!!! Grrr! Back to the old-school days of entering all items by hand!

Seems like I can get the QFX file from BOH, but Quicken is unable to use it?

Either the QFX not correct from BOH or Quicken is unable to read the BOH QFX file???

  • Punafrog
    Punafrog Quicken Windows 2017 Member

that was my experience as well.

Maybe just have to change banks. 🤷🏻

    Really really disappointing all around.

Looks like my next subscription renewal is going up to $95.88/yr… What good is this if I can't download or import transactions?

    Seriously thinking about cancelling…

If the problem is a quicken problem, then we should have the anticipated months without being able to use the download feature credited to our annual subscription.

If the problem is a quicken problem, then we should have the anticipated months without being able to use the download feature credited to our annual subscription.

    Quick comments:

    (a) "If the problem is a quicken problem…" It seems clear that the problem was caused by BOH changing its websites and servers to a new system. Can't blame that on Quicken. 😉

    (b) Quicken itself doesn't deal with connectivity issues. All connectivity services are contracted out to Intuit, and Quicken is basically at their mercy to get outages and problems resolved. Intuit in turn handles connectivity with more than 10,000 financial institutions, so there are always outages/connectivity problems popping up each week. If every bank made just one change just once every two years which required coding intervention at Intuit's end, that would be about 25 new connectivity issues every workday!

    (c) If BOH didn't provide advance notice to Intuit of its upcoming change, and a server test environment for coding and testing connectivity, that's a failure of BOH on its responsibilities in its agreement with Intuit. And it would have put BOH at the end of the queue when they switched over and broke the old connectivity.

    (d) Quicken provides connectivity services for financial institutions, but doesn't provide a service guarantee that each and every financial institution will work correctly all the time — they simply can't for the aforementioned reasons. The reality is that some financial institutions will be broken at any time. Those breakages aren't caused by Quicken, they're caused by the banks, and it's up to Quicken — Intuit, actually — to figure out what needs to be done to restore connectivity, code it, test it, and deploy it.

And yes, it is extremely annoying when it's your bank which is the one which isn't working week after week; I'm not trying to minimize the frustration, only to explain the complexity of getting these issues resolved.
