Quicken Web Connect - PNC accounts
I have worked with Quicken and with PNC and Quicken is aware that in some cases Quicken cannot connect to PNC. The work around is to go to PNC, select the account you want to "download" transactions and there is an export button. When you open the download, MAKE sure that you connect to an existing account and then select the correct account. Supposedly the first time you do this, it will download the last 90 transactions and you will need to delete a lot of them. It is a work around to keep your Quicken up to date until they fix the problem. Call Quicken for more information.

In my experience, PNC's EWC+ connections (via PNC Bank - Web Connect and PNC - Virtual Wallet) are so broken they should turn the EWC+ off and go back to EWC. (Yeah, I know that won't happen but I wish it would.) Besides difficulties in getting reliable connections set up and maintained, they are notorious for not downloading transactions. I have one FI set up in one test file and this past week 4 transactions never downloaded even though they had posted days before the end of the week. I have the other FI set up in a different test file and 3 transactions never downloaded. This past week was not unique…it happens fairly frequently.
For a reliable connection that is almost flawless, use the PNC Bank - Direct Connect FI. It is a no cost DC connection for consumer accounts and I think for business accounts it costs only $2.00 or $2.50 per month. To get this set up you will need to contact PNC and tell them you want to connect with "Direct Connect". They will tell you what UserID to use (usually it will be your SSN) and they will then mail you a unique PIN to use. (It used to be that you'd have to call in to PNC regarding this but someone said it can now be done in the online account.)
After receiving the PIN, deactivate your account(s) and then do Add Account and select PNC - Direct Connect making sure to Link the downloaded data to the PNC account(s) already in Quicken.
As an added benefit, PNC's DC connection support totally free Bank Bill Pay (not to be confused with Quicken's Quick Pay and Check Pay services) which is highly reliable and easy to use. In addition to being able to pay bills, this service allows you to transfer funds between your PNC accounts.
