How to fix a balance discrepency
In the past few days my wife's checking balance has not agreed with the bank. What is the issue and how do we fix it?

Hello @Sparky24134,
Which financial institution are you experiencing this issue with? What is the issue with the balance?
Let me know!

Chase is my wife's bank. I am a little obsessive about our finances so check balances frequently. Have never had an issue updating the balance from Chase but in the past week the balance has been off by $400+. I've tried updating it several times but the discrepency remains. I do not see any missed charges or deposits in her acct.

No one here can guess at what's wrong in your account because we can't see the data. But I can outline how I think you can track it down…
First, can you verify on the Chase website that the running balance in your account as of today matches the "online balance" you see, and that Quicken reports. Sometimes there are problems if a pending transaction or pre-authorization transaction comes into Quicken as if it's a posted transaction when it isn't.
Then, since this problem started just recently, I'd go back to last month's statement from the bank, and verify that you have Quicken reconciled with that balance as of September 30, and making sure your Quicken balance hasn't changed from somewhere in the past. If Quicken and Chase are reconciled accurately through September 30, it should be relatively easy to find any discrepancy moving forward in time. Compare your transacitons since September 30 on the Chase website and in your Quicken register — side-by-side, or printing one so you can check off each transaction you find in the other. Pay particular attention to any transactions which haven't yet cleared the bank.
