Investing, Dividend Calculation

Is there a way to automatically calculate dividends? I have a number of investments that pay per share dividends at various frequencies such as monthly, quarterly or annually. I spend a significant amount of time manually inputting dividends.

    Hello @Mike Damuth,

If these dividends are distributed at predictable intervals, then an income reminder may work (see this help article for more details:

https://help.quicken.com/display/MAC/Income+view). The reminder wouldn't calculate the dividend for you, but it would save you some work by having most of the transaction already created for you, so you could just edit if needed, then mark it deposited to get the transaction into your register.

You could also set the reminder to automatically put the deposit into your register, by clicking the Mark as Deposited dropdown and selecting Automatically.

    I hope this helps!

That would be a great idea — except you can't schedule investment-type transactions, like Dividend and Reinvest Dividend. Your example is correct if all a user wants to do is see the increase in their account cash balance from a dividend payment. But there's no way to connect that to the security paying the dividend, and therefore any tracking of investment performance is ruined.

What we NEED is the ability to schedule investment transactions. There is an Idea thread for this, and it just needs two more votes to reach the threshold to be forwarded to the developers for consideration. @Mike Damuth please click the link below and add your vote (in the yellow box at the top of the page)!
