A transaction (Deposit-401k Employer Contribution) recorded in one Investment Account, shows up in another Investment Account when running Income by Security Report.

Tried deleting transaction and reentering...same result.

Tried entering new transaction, same scenerio…same result

    Hello @mtgill@,

To start with, I suggest that you please try validating and/or super validating your data file. However, I do recommend that you first save a backup file prior to performing these steps.

    Validate:

    1. File
    2. Validate and Repair File...
    3. Validate File
    4. Click OK
    5. Close the Data Log
    6. Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
    7. Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

If the issue persists, proceed to Super Validate. If the issue is resolved after performing validation, then please disregard the instructions to Super Validate.

    Super Validate:

    1. File
    2. Hold CTRL + Shift and click Validate and Repair File...
    3. Super Validate File
    4. Click OK
    5. Close the Data Log
    6. Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
    7. Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

    I hope this helps!

This seems very odd. The Income by Security report should not not show deposits or contributions in any account. It is supposed to show the dividends, interest, realized and unrealized capital gains generated by the securities in the account.

How did you enter this transaction? Was it via the Paycheck Wizard or was it a separate transaction?

Have chosen Subtotal by Account for this report?

What column in the report shows the incorrect amount?

If you double click on the incorrect amount, does it show the correct transaction or something else?

The transaction was added as a separate transaction.

    Yes, I Subtotaled by Account.

It shows up under column Other Income. It is row labeled Cash. Cannot drill down on amount to analyze transaction.

The transaction was originally entered as a Deposit

Also, the amount is not incorrect on the report….it just shows up in the wrong account.

OK, thanks for the additional information. I now see the same issue in a test file. I am running R59.18.

I entered a Deposit in an investing account and assigned it to an income Category. In the Income by Security report subtotaled by Account, this deposit appears in the Other Income Column in the section for a different account.

The deposit shows correctly in the account where I made the deposit. and does not appear in the transaction list for the other account.

I reported this problem using the Help > Report a problem link in Quicken and you should too.

Forum Moderators sometimes review issues discussed here and refer them to Development, but if you want Quicken to work on a problem, I recommend you contact Support via phone.  Be sure the support agent understands the problem and gives you a ticket number for future reference. Please post the ticket number here.

You should also use the Help > Report a Problem menu in Quicken to submit the issue online. In your submission, be as clear and thorough as possible. Reference the ticket number and provide a link to this discussion. Provide step by step instructions to reproduce the problem. They will not pay much attention to a problem unless they can replicate it in house.

You will not get a response to an electronic submission, but apparently they review and prioritize the submissions and use the data to help resolve problems they decide to work on. The more reports they receive the better.
