A feature to permanently uncheck 'Hidden"

Develop a preference in reports to permanently uncheck 'Show Hidden' in Accounts, Categories, Tags and Securities when customizing them.. I've looked through preferences and cannot find an option to do so.

Hidden accounts and categories, and tags, are hidden for a reason. We don't want to see them clutter up our 60 years of data. So, by default, any box that says "Show Hidden" should be unchecked by default.

@Randy 415 Wow, 60 years of data? So you started entering transactions two decades before Quicken was even created? 🤣

    Okay, seriously…

I'd like to be clear with my idea. When customizing a Report in Quicken Classic premier, most recent version, there is a check box in the Accounts, Categories, Tags and Securities tabs called Show: Hidden Accounts which is always checked. See attachments.

I suggest Quicken add an option in Preferences for Reports to Uncheck/Check Show: Hidden Accounts as a default for each of these tabs separately.

I understand the thoughts of those who have responded to my earlier post but believe that the way some of us use Hidden it would make creating and modifying reports more efficient and possibly effective by not displaying Hidden Accounts, Categories, Tags and/or Securities by a offering an Option in Preferences to have Show Hidden unchecked by default.

You are asking for a Windows feature in a Mac forum, hence all the confusion - Quicken Mac doesn't have that check box. I'll ask a moderator to move this over to a Windows forum.

    Hello @acs2,

I have moved this thread to the proper category for Quicken for Windows ideas and I have also added that you are using windows on your profile.

    Thanks!

Thanks. I'm surprised as I thought I clicked to get me to a PC forum

I looked at my original post which was to Ideas for Windows Classic. Was that an error as I thought it was for PC?

Ideas for Windows Classic is correct. That's where your Idea has been moved by the moderator; it was originally posted in Ideas for Mac Classic.

I don't think Preferences is the right way to accomplish what is desired. Each "show hidden" check box should simply remember its state and appear however the user last left it.

Thanks for your comment. I think it fits with the theme of my idea and your solution is fine with me.

@jacobs Yes, when I had to close my deceased parents' estate, I used Quicken to reconcile transactions and activities over many decades. It was faster and easier than using a spreadsheet. Luckily, Quicken will handle dates going back to 1/1/1901. (Thru the year 5000). Doc Brown used Quicken to help develop the flux capacitor.
