Quicken Windows performance dramatically better

For years, working in the register (of any account) in my 30-year old 72,000-transaction file has been sluggish. Saving any transaction for whatever reason always took a moment or two. I've often been tempted to give up on Quicken, but no other solution fits my particular needs.

Then, in the last few days, I was shocked to find edits instantly apply! I waited another day before confirming it appears to be sticking around. I can't find any recent release notes about this, but something somewhere was fixed and it's wonderful!

I haven't noticed any difference in performance lately and haven't seen any other person reporting any improvements (or anything in the release notes not to mention it has been a while since the last version update).

In reality there are lots of cases where we can't explain why some people have terrible performance with Quicken and as such wouldn't be able to explain why all of a sudden, your performance improved.

It is nice that it happened, but a mystery of why.

I would back-up that file and stash it somewhere safe. A known-good 30-year-old data file backup is a great comfort. Then, I would definitely perform some file maintenance to see if Quicken finds any latent errors.

Oh, it was a beautiful, wonderful couple of days.

    Then, back to normal.

    Rats.
