Quicken R59.35(Nov 2024) Improvement

The above version of Quicken for Windows states: "Improved Quicken Bill Manager now supports electronic payments to Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Capital One with QuickPay, powered by a more reliable payment delivery method.".

Has anyone gotten this to work? If so what steps did you take? Here's what I tried.

I have Capital One, Chase & Wells Fargo accounts. I've only tried Capital One. My Capital One card is listed under the Bills & Income tab but only provides an option to pay it using CheckPay. What I did is I removed the biller and then I tried re-adding it and it came back and told me That the following Bill has been found using the Capital One Services connection and to select the account to add as an online bill in Quicken; it was already selected so I continued only to have the Payee readded to Bills & Income as with only the CheckPay option again with no option for QuickPay.

Since it stated it was found using the Capital One Connections Services, I removed it from the Bills & Income tab and then went into my accounts and deactivated the Capital One account and then reactivated it. It added the account without issue but when I tried adding the bill as an online bill under the Bills and Income tab, I got the same results as above occurred.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
— Howard

    Hello @H.Richburg,

To help troubleshoot this issue, please provide more information. Did you follow these directions from this article on the improvement to Quick Pay?

To start making electronic payments to these billers:

    1. Make sure your funding accounts are verified and enabled for both Quick Pay and Check Pay. To confirm, go to the Gear icon (settings) in the Bills & Income tab and select Payment Accounts. If you see a green check mark under both the Quick Pay and Check Pay columns, you're all set!
    2. Make sure you’ve added a supported biller as an  Online Bill in the Bills & Income dashboard.
    3. Click Quick Pay for the support biller and then verify your identity as the holder of your accounts.
    4. Provide a few one-time details for your biller, like your account number. This helps us locate your biller and process the payment.

If you have followed these steps and it's still not giving you the option for Quick Pay, please let me know so we can look into this further!

Thanks for wanting to try out the new feature! I've sent you a direct message wanting to know some details about your Capital One connection. It might be that the connection ID is not included in our configuration.

    Answers to your questions:

    1. I've currently use QuickPay & CheckPay so my funding accounts are verified and enabled.
    2. This issue is related to the Improvements made in Quicken R59.35 Capital One, Chase, Wells Fargo and Bank of America now supports electronic payments in Quicken Bill Manager. I assume this means QuickPay, is that a correct assumption?
    3. When I try to add an online bill under the Bills & Income tab, it does not ask for my identity but brings up a screen asking which accounts I want to add (see first screen shot attached) as an Online Bill in Quicken. I assume that information is picked up from when I set up my Online Accounts and required to login. This first screen shot is the first presented when I attempt to add Capital One as an Online Bill. From here I select "Continue".
    4. Note the next screen shot shows the Bill Connection was Updated.
    5. It has the correct account number but as you can see in the 3rd screenshot it sets it up as CheckPay within Bills and Income.

Exact same symptoms here with Capital One and Kohl's (their new Cap1 card). Chase and Wells Fargo ARE working for Quickpay where they were not before the update.

I have the same issue trying to use Quick Pay. I get "Account not found" after filling the one time additional information screen,

I don't mind using the check pay feature but delivery is much slower then paying with by bank's payment service. So, I use that!

Thank you for sharing your logfiles! @ghclark and @Chris Bergerson, it looks like your Capital One connection ID wasn't in our configurations, which is why Quick Pay wasn’t showing as an option. We'll look to fix that as soon as we can. Apologies for this, but we really appreciate your help!

We're still trying to investigate your issue, @H.Richburg. If you could share your log files by navigating to Help → "Report a Problem," it would help us troubleshoot further.

Appreciate you sharing your feedback, @Step2. Could you send me a direct message with the first 6 digits of your account number? This will help me determine if it’s an account we can support at this time. For context, the first 6 digits of a credit card number represent the Bank Identifier Number (BIN) and are not sensitive information (more info here).

    Hello All,

For your reference, the issue you're encountering with being Quick Pay not showing as an option for Capital One is being investigated under ticket QWIN-24370.

Similar problem with Marriott Rewards card from Chase Credit Cards except that I get an error message saying that I need to add the card to my accounts, even though I already have added the card to my accounts.

I have the "account number not found" issue with my Capital One accounts as well.

  • BarryGraham

I also see this with Capital One, although that's probably because I don't have a credit card for Capital One, only bank accounts.

However, even though I thought I had tried this before, this evening I tried adding Marriott Rewards Credit Card as a biller instead of Chase, and it worked.

Where I can read updates on ticket QWIN-24370?

I am having a similar issue, specifically with my Capital One and Kohls (by Capital One) account. However, I see the Quick Pay button. But when I click on it and enter the Payee Details (full account number and the payment zip code on the statement), I receive a dialog box with the message, "Account Number Not Found".

I tried/confirmed the steps provided above by Quicken Kristina. After I completed Step 4, I received a dialog box with the title, "Account Number Not Found" and the messages, "Your account number could not be found" and "If you continue to see this error, your account may not yet be eligible for Quick Pay payments at this time."

When this failed, I tried Deactivating Online Services in Quicken, Disabling Quicken as a Linked App on the Capital One web site, and then Setting up Online Services again in Quicken. This did not resolve the above issue. Interestingly, after it failed, I found that Quicken was again showing as Linked App in both of my Capital One online accounts. I have updated and added Quick Pay details for Chase and Bank of America without any issues, so this seems to be isolated to Capital One.

    Hello @James118,

There isn't anyplace customers can view tickets, however, I am able to check the status of the ticket. When I check the ticket updates, there was a Capital One connection option that hadn't been enabled for Quick Pay. It has now been enabled for Quick Pay.

Which connection option(s) are you using with Capital One? (Note: You can view which connection option you are using by going to Tools>Account list. The Financial Institution column will say the name of the connection option you're using. If you don't see a Financial Institution column, then click the Options button near the lower left of the Account List and select "Show financial institution".). Are you getting the same error when trying to use Quick Pay with any Capital One account, or is this affecting only some of your Capital One accounts?

    @Carp8diem,

Are you still encountering issues with your BJs card through Capital One? If so, what connection option are you using for that account?

I look forward to your replies!

@Quicken Abhishek @Quicken Kristina Hi Kristina and Abhishek,
For the past week, I've been trying to get in touch with the Bill Manager Product Manager or your marketing lead wanting to know what's needed to add "U.S. Bank" to the list of banks that supports Quick Pay payments?

Here is the promo I saw that is missing U.S. Bank:

"Improved Quicken Bill Manager now supports electronic payments to Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Capital One with QuickPay, powered by a more reliable payment delivery method.".

I saw your comment above and tried again. My three Chase accounts which I could not add before (but didn't mention); now successfully were added.

The Capital One account still gets the "account number not found" error. If it helps the BJ card's BIN is 5108 75.

I am using Express Web Connect+, Financial Institution is Capital One Card Services. It is affecting all Capital One related accounts (Capital One and Kohls).

Thank you for your replies @Carp8diem and @James118,

I have forwarded this information you provided to the team currently working on the issue (ticket QWIN-24370).

Please make sure to go to Help>Report a Problem and send us a problem report with log files attached. While you will not receive a response through this submission, these reports will help our teams in further investigating the issue.

    Hello @Macmar10,

Unfortunately, it is the financial institution that decides what payment methods they will support. I recommend contacting US Bank about your request for them to support Quick Pay payments from Quicken.

    Thank you!

U.S., Bank does support Quick Pay payments via Quicken (through their Direct Connect feature). I'm asking if you can update your promotion to include U.S., Bank?

    change from:

"Improved Quicken Bill Manager now supports electronic payments to Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Capital One with QuickPay, powered by a more reliable payment delivery method."

    change to:

"Improved Quicken Bill Manager now supports electronic payments to Chase, Bank of America,US Bank, Wells Fargo and Capital One with QuickPay, powered by a more reliable payment delivery method."

Or if you could put me in touch with the Bill Manager Product Owner or marketing lead for the promotion, that would be great.

here is my email: [Removed - Personal Information]

    thanks,

Thank you for your reply @Macmar10,

What you're seeing may be the Bank Bill Pay feature available with some financial institutions that offer Direct Connect. According to the article linked below, US Bank does support Bank Bill Pay:

To check if you're using Bank Bill Pay or Quicken Bill Manager (Quick Pay or Check Pay) with your US Bank account, go to Tools>Account List. Click the Edit button next to that account, then go to the Online Services tab and look in the Online bill payment section.

    Thank you!

    Hello @Carp8diem and @James118,

The response I received from our teams is that there are currently two connection options with Capital One that support Quick Pay: Capital One Card Services and Capital One 360.

    @James118,

Since you said your accounts were already connected to Capital One Card Services, is the issue persisting for you still? If it is, please let me know and also go to Help>Report a Problem and send a problem report with log files attached. Our teams need the information from those logs to be able to look into the problem and find the cause.

    @Carp8diem,

Our team's response to the account not found error you said you were seeing is that it may be a format issue. For example, if it's asking you for the card number, make sure you're putting in that number without dashes. Additionally, the connection option you said you're using isn't one of the ones that currently supports Quick Pay. Is it possible to connect your account under Capital One 360 or Capital One Card services?

    Thank you!

When I checked I was using Capital One Card Services and getting the "account number number" error.

I switched to using Capital One 360 and continue to get the error of "account number missing".

@Carp8diem - I was reading somewhere a while back that another person with a BJ's credit card could only set up and connect that card for downloads using the Capital One Card - Current financial institution in Add Account. It was a thread from 2023 so not too long ago. You might want to try setting up your card with this one. It will be easier to find in Add Account if you type it in the Search field.

If this works for you, it does unfortunately mean that currently you not be able to set it up with QuickPay for it. But at least you'll be able to download transactions into Quicken.

Let us know if this helps you.

U.S., Bank does support Quick Pay payments via Quicken (through their Direct Connect feature). I'm asking if you can update your promotion to include U.S., Bank?

As mentioned above by @Quicken Kristina, DC Bank Bill Pay is a free Quicken product feature that some banks with DC support. With this feature we are able to schedule Bill Payments directly with the bank. The bank decides whether to pay by check or by ACH/EFT transfer and we don't have the ability to decide which to use. Generally, banks will send payments by ACH/EFT whenever the biller accepts that payment method. If the biller (or person) the payment is going to does not accept ACH/EFT payments, the payments are sent by mailed checks. DC Bank Bill Pay also supports transfers between accounts held at the same bank. Quicken Inc. does not get involved with this process. QuickPay and CheckPay are not part of DC Bank Bill Pay.

This is different from Quicken's Bill Manager service which is a supplemental 3rd party service offered by Quicken Inc. QuickPay and CheckPay are part of QBM. My understanding is that QBM does not work with DC and that it works only with EWC and EWC+ connection methods…but most EWC+ connected financial institutions do not yet support QuickPay.

The process for setting up payees and sending payments are different for DC Bank Bill Pay than it is for QBM.

US Bank does support DC Bank Bill Pay. In order to get the DC connection service with US Bank you will need to sign up for with US Bank. The last I heard is that USB will charge you $3/month fee for DC service but that monthly fee then gives you unlimited bill payments and internal accounts transfers that you can make at no additional charge.
