APL FCU Connection issue with checking account only (for now)

During Quicken Connect I keep getting the error that a name or number may have changed on my checking account (It is associated with an Account Not Found Error 324). I have worked with representatives two days straight to reset the connection/export a sterilized copy and reimported the copy/ ensured Private Relay has been turned off/ ensure VPN is off. Through luck (or persistence) the account is able to link with their assistance only to show up with the dreaded orange dot beside the account the next day. Please help.

    Hello @acjetpilot,

To help troubleshoot this issue, please provide more information. You mentioned that you spoke with Support; could you provide the ticket number from that contact with Support? What is the exact error message/code that you are seeing? If possible, please provide a screenshot of the error. If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to your response if you are not given the option to add attachments.

If you haven't already done so, please go to Accounts>Hide and Show Accounts… and verify that you don't have any inactive/closed accounts with APL FCU that are still trying to connect in Quicken. Accounts that Quicken still thinks are connected will have the financial institution name showing in the Financial Institution column.

If there are any inactive/closed accounts that are still trying to connect in Quicken, please backup your file and deactivate the account(s). Once that is done, test to see if the issue persists in your Quicken.

I look forward to your response!

    Kristina,

Thank you for replying. I have attached a redacted screenshot of the error when trying to connect to my bank's checking account. I have also verified that there are no other APLFCU accounts trying to connect. I will double check to ensure that there are no other accounts with a similar account number as well. thank you again

    Thank you for your replies,

To continue troubleshooting this issue, please backup your Quicken file, then follow these steps from this article on error code 324:

    Step 1: Deactivate the account(s)

    1. Go to the Accounts menu and choose Hide and Show Accounts.
    2. Uncheck any accounts with this specific financial institution (FI) that are hidden in Lists.
    3. When complete, click on the account name for your account(s) in the Accounts toolbar in Quicken.
    4. Click the Settings icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
    5. Select the Downloads tab.
    6. Click on Disconnect Account.
    7. Click Done. Do this on each account with this FI.
    8. Quit Quicken.

Step 2: Reactivate and link the account(s)

    1. Reopen Quicken.
    2. Go to Accounts > Add Account.
    3. Type the name of the financial institution, make the appropriate selection, then click Continue.
    4. Enter your login credentials and click Continue.
    5. When Quicken has returned all accounts discovered for this FI, very carefully LINK each of the found accounts to the appropriate account you already have set up in Quicken.

Please let me know how it goes!

    Good afternoon Kristina,

Following your instructions very carefully resulted in a successful linking of accounts, again. Before I claim victory, I'll need to wait until tomorrow to see if it gives me the the orange circle of doom. however, thank you for your help in linking the account today.

😫 Well, victory lost. It didn't even take until the following day to get a repeat error. There is seriously something going on behind the scenes that I can't fix. FWIW, i'll attach another redacted screenshot, but it's identical to the previous error.

    Thank you for your reply,

To test for a possible file-specific issue, let's try adding the account as new rather than linking to the existing account. To do that, please please backup your Quicken file, then follow these steps:

    Step 1: Deactivate the account(s)

    1. Click on the account name for your account(s) in the Accounts toolbar in Quicken.
    2. Click the Settings icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
    3. Select the Downloads tab.
    4. Click on Disconnect Account.
    5. Click Done. Do this on each account with this FI.
    6. Quit Quicken.

    Step 2: Reactivate the account(s)

    1. Reopen Quicken.
    2. Go to Accounts > Add Account.
    3. Type the name of the financial institution, make the appropriate selection, then click Continue.
    4. Enter your login credentials and click Continue.
    5. Make sure to add the account as New instead of linking to the existing account.

Once you have added the account as a new account, test to see if the issue is resolved.

    Thank you!

    Hello Kristina,

As always, thank you. followed your clear instructions and got the account added again with one or two subtle differences. the attached screenshot shows the two checking accounts, the one in capitals being the one I just added as a new account. It only brought in 90 days worth of transactions, so I had to copy and move all of the other years worth of data. Also, I went into the Hide and Show Accounts and closed the older checking account (APL Checking). Fingers crossed.

…and it happened again. same Account_Not_Found (324) and CC-506 codes. For what it's worth, I'm becoming really good at disconnecting accounts and re-adding them again. Also very thankful for your help, regardless of the current outcome.

    Hi All,

Just an FYI for you guys. I'm having the same exact issue with an account from Water and Power Community Credit Union. since around 11/21 or 22nd. been on the phone since 11/25 with support. got it to work on the 25th and the 26th again the same problem. went through the whole troubleshooting again with support and no go. now support is having me wait 24 hours for whatever reason.

If you guys find a fix. please post it here and I'll do the same. seems like a big issue with quicken. that CC-506 error is all over Google with all kinds of banks.

Edit to add. I have a personal checking and savings account with this one bank. the savings has no problems. only the checking does.

    Hello Kristina,

    Current ticket number is 11410421.

I have disconnected the account and reconnected it. moved the file from the iCloud docs folder to the Quicken docs folder, disconnected, did a cloud reset and reconnected it, in the processes also signing out and back in to the Quicken account.

Yesterday, they had me create a new checking account, move the transactions from the old to the new account. all while repeating the steps of resetting the cloud, signing out and back in to Quicken. until it finally worked. and than this morning, same error. again went through the same steps today, but this time it didn't work.

Today we also created a brand new Quicken file with just the two accounts from that bank and it worked fine. it connected and downloaded the transactions. went back to the original file and tried it again and again it didn't work. and is only the checking account that has the issue. the savings account connects and updates with no problem.

I’ll be interested to hear if anyone else winds up with a checking issue only at a Credit Union. Right now this seems coincidental. Soon, it becomes a pattern.

This seems to be a common Quicken error. if you Google "quicken CC-506 error" there are pages of it. and not only with credit unions but also banks like B of A. but it does seem to affect mostly credit unions.

There is even a dedicated page to the error.

So, I had two pending transactions on this checking account. they already show as posted at the bank. I reconnected the account on Quicken this morning. One of the pending transactions got cleared and the error went away. Will run the update this afternoon one more time and if the transaction doesn't clear. I will run it again tomorrow and post results.

excellent news. I checked and noticed that I do not have any pending transactions on my bank account website, so my Quicken update failed. Once I do get my next bank transaction, I will see if the Quicken connect works. Small steps, but good to hear it worked for you.

  • in2ndo
    in2ndo Member ✭✭✭

And the account has updated all cleared transactions without an error. :-). Hopefully it will last. @acjetpilot I hope yours gets fixed too. .

    Thank you for your replies,

    @in2ndo,

I'm glad to hear yours is working again!

    @acjetpilot,

You mentioned your update failed? Did you see any error codes, or was it just that there wasn't anything to update yet?

    Thank you!

    Hi Kristina,

good news is that the last two synchronizations have worked correctly with no error messages. I'm still waiting for an actual transaction to clear my bank and see if it synchronizes with Quicken, but for now all is ok. Fingers crossed and thanks.
