Mangled Payee names - Quicken Mac Version 7.10.1

Mangled Payee names began showing up today in downloaded transactions in Checking and Credit Card accounts. For example, the Transaction Inspector shows the following:

Payee: 4

Quicken Name: 4

Statement Payee: REI.COM 800-426-4804

I have verified there are no renaming rules impacting these transactions. I am downloading the data in files from my financial institutions, then importing into Quicken.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Any advice how to trouble shoot this?

    Hello @Wes Maulding,

In the meantime, what has worked for me to correct the mangled/truncated Payees that downloaded into my Quicken is right clicking on each affected transaction and selecting Revert to Downloaded Payee Name.

    Thank you!

I am having the same issue with Quicken for Mac Classic - there doesn't seem to be a revert to downloaded payee name option

Seeing same issue as well with Mac Classic though I was able to use the revert option

Same issue with Mac Quicken Classic Deluxe, very annoying, but the revert to downloaded payee option works.

@brberro Control-click on the transaction, then select Revert to Downloaded Payee name near the bottom of the pop-up menu,

Thanks so much. I guess the right click option doesn't work anymore

@brberro Right click and control click should almost always be the same. While it's possible there's some error in Quicken's code preventing right click from working, you may want to check your mouse settings for right click to see if it's set up correctly.

    Hello All,

Our service provider told us the issue should now be resolved. This won't fix anything that previously downloaded incorrectly, but future downloads should no longer have this issue.

To correct anything that's already downloaded, you can right click or control click on the transaction and select Revert to Downloaded Payee Name.

    Thank you!

@Kristina thank you for monitoring and keeping the community updated on the correction for this issue. I have tested a few transactions and have not encountered the problem.

I do have a conceptual question for you — my workflow is to download the transactions into a file on my Mac, and then do an import into Quicken. Since this fix did not require a new Quicken update, where does the software logic reside that was corrected? I have been under the impression with my workflow, I am only using Quicken software on my Mac. TIA

Thank you for your response @Wes Maulding,

The software logic that was corrected was with the service provider. Even with Web Connect (downloading QFX file from the financial institution and importing it into Quicken), the service provider is involved, and that was resulting in Payee data being distorted.

    I hope this helps!

@Wes Maulding Just a heads up, you need to include "Quicken" in the user name of the moderators & admins. @Kristina and @Quicken Kristina are two different people.
