Does the RECATEGORIZE tool still work ?
Win 11, Q Classic Premier R59.35,
Has it been disabled in this release?
I tried to use Recategorize under TOOLS while I was in an investment account and it was Grayed out. Is it not permitted in Investment transactions?

The selected transaction is in an investment account. Recategorize is grayed out.

Just tested this in my two investment accounts (now maintained offline because Direct Connect is no longer supported by my brokerage).
Tools / Recategorize is not available for investment account registers, but is available for all banking registers, including my regular brokerage account's Linked Cash / Checking Account. What type of transactions do you need to recategorize?

I have a couple different Interest categories that I use. Q just plugs in the standard _INT and then I change it, usually. But I found some I missed so I wanted to correct them on Recategorized.
I don't see why Q has restricted this tool to Banking accounts only.

What different Interest categories are you talking about?
AFAIK, the regular _IntInc category is good for almost all situations, regular or retirement accounts. The Tax - related reports can figure it out.Taxable vs. tax-free interest: Is/are tax-free securities correctly marked as tax-free?
Because investment account registers are a totally different animal from banking registers, changing transactions in investment registers seems to require a different method to apply these changes.
You've probably already figured out that using an Investment Transaction report, subtotaled by category, will show you the transactions which you need to change. Drilling down to each individual transaction will give you the Edit Transaction dialog … one at a time … and that's the best that I can come up with. Maybe someone else will chime in here with a better idea.

I have 6 or 7 interest subcategories. I don't really care how Q decides to label them of whether they are tax related.
I use them for my own reporting functions.
The manual changing of categories has been available forever, it is very tedious if there are many.
