Updating MacBook Pro and pulling data from old machine

According to my info, my Quicken expired in May of 2021. Actually I was no longer able to update Quicken on my 2008 (Spring) MacBook Pro running El Captain in, what I now know to have been October 2020.
I am on the verge of purchasing a brand new MacBook Pro. Apple will connect/pull the data from the old MBP (which stopped being able to be turned on six months ago), and transfer it into the new MBP. When I launch Quicken, I ought to be able to start Quicken and then update it, right?
There are a few things to think about… the file it will pull from I have been using since 2008. Obviously there will be a huge gap since the last time I could download from my bank.’ I’ve kept this going for legacy reasons, but maybe there’s a better way to archive data while still being able to access/search the whole history of my use of Quicken..
There is a lot one can do with Quicken managing one’s finances,. I was, in effect, using it as a glorified check register (which it kinda is), I’d like to finally gett everything I can out of using Quicken.!
Any thoughts suggestions of at least getting back to using Quicken after an unexpected layoff?
Thanks!
p.s.
I will probably use this new machine for both personal and business. Can Quicken and Quickbooks on the same machine?

Hello @xpaddy01b,
Yes, you should be able to launch Quicken and update to the latest patch which you can access here, this article also discusses reinstalling and patching your Quicken Subscription version after your membership has expired. From what I gathered, your data file was updated last in 2020 which means that it should be fully compatible with the latest patch, however, I have located an article discussing how to convert an older data file within Quicken for Mac which you can view here (just in case). Yes, I am not trained in Quickbooks, however, these are two separate entities and I don't believe that they would interact with each other or affect each other at all.
I hope this helps!

Thank you, @Quicken Jasmine! I have hope for the future! Except for that gap which I can’T fill ( 10/2020 to present), at least i can get back up and running as I was up till 09/2020. Thanks for the links as well!
I had an idea that I could probably have Quicken and QuickBooks could reside on the same machines
We’ll talk more soon!
Thanks again! :)

Quicken and Quickbooks are completely separate software products, from different companies, so they will not interfere with each other. Other than sharing the first 5 letters of their name, there's no overlap. 😉
As for Quicken, part of the question is what version of Quicken you have (had). It seems you're saying you had subscription Quicken Mac until May 2021, but the version on your old computer was older than that. So you should be able to download and install the version prior to your subscription expiration using the link from Jasmine above: version 6.1.1 if your expiration was prior to 5/13/21, or version 6.2.0 or 6.2.1 if your expiration date was later in May 2021. Your data file should transfer to the new Mac, and it will update to the version of Quicken you install. Of course, Quicken has seen many improvements since May 2021, so you may want to consider whether to renew your subscription in order to update to the latest version. Note that if you don't, Quicken will appropriate the right side of your Quicken window for a persistent message about renewing, which you may find annoying.
