Community Quicken support forums don't even work (so good luck getting actual issue resolved)
Discouraging to come to "Quicken for Mac" … and supposably do a search that should only search "Quicken for Mac" section posts. Yet? A search for anything pulls up that search result for EVERY SINGLE forum on quicken's site. Majority of folks use Quicken for Windows, so those search results are overwhelmingly from "Quicken for Windows" forums.
Not useful at all, since Mac and Windows versions are incredibly different animals… There's zero legit reason we shouldn't be able to "search" on the support forums within the section we are in (there's no after the fact way to filter for "posts on Quicken for Mac" only, etc.)

@tntgalx10 AFAIK the search has always worked that way - no matter what subsection of the forum you're looking at it's a global search, and you have to filter the search results afterwards to narrow it down to the Mac part of the forum.
When looking at the results, click on the Discussions button, then go over to the Category pulldown on the right and select the area of the forum you want to look in. The dropdown tends to get cut off so it helps if you type something like "Mac" into the category box first, then you'll only see categories that include "Mac" in the name. Make sure to check the Search Subcategories box below. Then click on the Filter button in the lower right (I accidentally cut off that in my screen shot).

Hello @tntgalx10,
Thank you for the feedback, my team is looking into this further.
Also, to reiterate what @Jon said, if you search using keywords, discussions related to the issue will come up! So I would try searching "renaming Mac" with specific details of what you are trying to find!
I hope this helps!

@tntgalx10 The Search feature of the platform used for this site (it's commercial software from Vanilla Forums, not something Quicken created) has always been poor — exacerbated by Quicken's desire to have Quicken Mac and Quicken Windows under the same roof instead of having separate forums for each of them.
So here's a better way to search: bypass the built-in Search tool, and use Google site search instead. Many people don't know that you can do a Google search restricted to a single site — in this case "community.quicken.com" — by starting you search with the keyword "site:" followed by the URL of the site you wish to search . So if I want to search for help with, for example, automatic backup in Quicken Mac, I'd enter this :
- The "site:community.quicken.com" part tells Google to only show search results from this site.
- Next is the all-important "mac" search term. While it isn't 100% perfect at separating out Quicken Windows topics, it's pretty good, and it generally puts Quicken Mac discussions first.
- Follow that with whatever you're searching for information about. Since it's a Google search, you don't have to be precise with your words or word order.
I use this technique for searching for topics on this forum quite often, and I rarely use the Search built into the site. Try it and see if you find it as useful as I do.
