Prior ending statement date

I had trouble reconciling my credit card this morning. It wasn't capturing the cleared but un-reconciled transactions. I noticed that the 'prior ending statement date' was not correct and I had no way to correct it. So I went ahead and manually reconciled those transactions that cleared AFTER my last statement but before this incorrect ending statement date.

After reconciling I noticed it set the ending date to today's date and NOT to the actual statement ending date that I put in the window which was the 17th. See example. What is going on?

Oh, I have already run a file validation. Didn't fix the issue.

    Hello @Steve Sprauer,

Are you manually updating the account or is it connected online? Is this the first time you have seen this issue? Did anything occur before this issue began? Have you received any error codes or messages?

    Let me know!

Everything is done manually. This is the first time I've seen the issue and the only thing I can think that may have changed is the monthly or so Quicken updates. No error codes or messages. It simply puts the statement ending date as today and I can't then change it to do my latest reconcile.

You can reverse an account reconciliation in Quicken, but it requires a few steps. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Open the Account Register: Go to the account you reconciled.
    2. Select Transactions: Highlight the reconciled transactions you want to reverse. You can do this by holding the Shift key while clicking on the first and last transactions in the range you want to change.
    3. Change Reconciliation Status: Right-click on the selected transactions and choose
    4. Reconcile Status. Change the status from "R" (Reconciled) to "C" (Cleared) or leave it blank.
    5. Redo Reconciliation: After changing the status, you'll need to redo the reconciliation process for those transactions.

Alternatively, if you have a backup of your Quicken file from before the reconciliation, you can restore that backup and start the reconciliation process from there.

    Thank you for your reply,

When I tested in my Quicken, I saw something similar. The pattern I noticed was that if I did a reconcile where there were items to reconcile, then the next time I opened the reconcile window, it displayed today's date as the prior ending statement date.

I forwarded this issue to the proper channels to be further investigated. In the meantime, if you'd like to contribute to the investigation, please navigate to Help > Report a problem and submit a problem report with log files attached.

While you will not receive a response through this submission, these reports will help our teams in further investigating the issue. The more problem reports we receive, the better.

While waiting for this issue to be corrected, I did find a work around. If you do a reconcile where Quicken sees no items to reconcile, that will cause the program to see the New Statement Ending date that you put in as the prior ending statement date when you initiate another reconcile.

    We apologize for any inconvenience!

    Thank you.
