Bill and Income Reminders section for Investing accounts - Round 2

At the beginning of the year I posted this:
"From Quicken session to session, the Bill and Income Reminders section at the bottom of the screen stays minimized for banking accounts (if you choose to do that), but not for Investing accounts. Is there a way to set that? I typically do not have any reminders for Investing accounts, and I'd rather have more screen real estate for the Investing accounts transactions." Never got a satisfactory answer.
Well, the not saving the setting is still true, but now the display has gotten worse, I think since the last update to version R60.18 Build 27.1.60.18. The Bill and Income Reminders section now takes up HALF of the display area! Before it was only about the bottom third or so. What is going on? I don't need that much space for reminders in the investing accounts. I can only see the most recent 3 transactions, plus the empty new one. And if you grab the divider line and drag it down, it only shows 5 transactions plus the blank empty one.
Why can't the investing section save the bill and income reminders minimized, like the bank account section does?

Hello @AllanP,
To help troubleshoot this issue, please provide more information. Is this happening in all of your investment accounts, or only some? In the accounts where it is not staying minimized, what is triggering it to expand? For instance, does it remember your preference until the next time you open Quicken? Does it expand again as soon as you look at another account, then return to the investment account? Does something else trigger it to expand? Are there any reminders to view, or downloaded transactions to approve in the affected accounts? If there are, does approving the transactions and/or entering the reminders into the account register prevent the bills and income reminders section from automatically expanding?
I look forward to your response!

- Hi Kristina,
1) All investment accounts behave this way.
2) The not staying minimized occurs upon program startup, when I select an investment account. So that answers your next question, it does not remember the preference that it is minimized for the next time I open Quicken (which is why I posted this in the first place).
3) If I minimize Reminders in an investment account, and then go to another investment account, or any account, and then come back to the 1st account, it will have stayed minimized in that 1st account. That is true of all investment accounts if I minimize their reminders sections. It just doesn't stick between launches of Quicken. Yet bank and credit accounts do stay.
- 4) There are no reminders to review in any investment account.
When I click on any investment account after launching Quicken, the register will briefly display the last 7 transactions in the account. Then the dividing line between the register and the reminder sections will slide up, such that the register is now only showing the last 3 transactions, and the bottom half of the screen is the empty reminder section.

Thank you for your reply,
I'm not able to replicate the issue in my Quicken. You mentioned this is happening with all of your investment accounts. Are these accounts connected accounts, manual accounts, or a mix of both? If they are connected accounts, do you have automatic entry turned on or off? You can check the preference for your file by going to Edit>Preferences>Downloaded Transactions. If there's a checkmark by Automatically add to investment transaction lists, then automatic entry is the default for your accounts.
It is possible to override that at the account level, so you can check an individual account by going to Tools>Account List, clicking the Edit button next to the account, and then looking on the Online Services tab.
Thank you!

None of my investment accounts are connected accounts. They are all manual entry.
I checked the account list, all of them have a button labelled "Set up now…" because they are all manual entry. The summary list on the Account List page shows the Transaction Download column is either No or Not Available, and the Last Download column is Not Available for all accounts.
I also found in Edit→Preferences→Register→Register Appearance, a checkbox called "Remember register filters after Quicken closes" that is unchecked. However, checking it off did not make any difference.

Thank you for your reply,
I tested with manual accounts and still cannot replicate the issue you're describing. That makes me suspect this issue is file-specific. I can see from the previous discussion on the issue that Validate/Super Validate did not correct the issue. Considering that the original discussion was from almost a year ago, restoring a backup from before the problem started would be sub-optimal.
I suggest that you try creating a copy of your data file, which will rebuild all of the internal lists and database tables. If successful, you would then move forward with the copied file. To create a copy, please navigate to File > Copy or Backup File... > Create a copy or template (see examples below) which will also allow you to select a date range to move forward with.
If you wish to move forward with your entire data file, please check the full date range of your entire data file before copying so you can enter the correct date range if you do not wish to "shrink" your file by eliminating certain dates. Note: You shouldn't need to "shrink" your file unless you believe older data may be the cause of the issue.
It's important to know that all online services will be disconnected in the copied file, and you will need to sign back in with your Quicken ID and reconnect all of your online accounts, online billers, Quicken Bill Manager services, etc. if you plan to use that copied file going forward. The reason for this is that the new copy also creates a new and separate dataset ID. Note: Please test to make sure the issue is resolved before reconnecting any accounts and online billers.
If the issue is not resolved in the copied file either, then feel free to switch back to your original file.
Thank you!

Rather than mess around with my data, I realized I forgot to mention that I already have a second, separate QDF file that I use to manage some funds for my parents. It has one Investing account. And guess what, it does the same thing as my primary QDF file. But since it has significantly fewer accounts of all types, I tried the copy process on that other data file.
The new copy also does the same thing as the other two. It does not save Investing with Reminders minimized, and they take up way too much screen real estate.
Are you using the same version as me? Quicken Classic Deluxe, Canadian Edition, R60.18?

Thank you for your reply,
Yes, I am using version R60.18. I have Business & Personal rather than Deluxe.
Since this issue is happening in multiple files for you, it's possible something in preferences is causing this.
Would you please navigate to Edit>Preferences>Investments and let me know what your settings on that screen are (or post a screenshot of it in this discussion)?
Also, do you have cloud sync (with the Quicken Cloud) turned on or off? You can check this by going to Edit>Preferences>Mobile & Web.
Thank you!

@Quicken Kristina I verified that I experience the same behaviour described by the OP - with SOME investment accounts. I can resize the Bill & Income Reminders panel, so it is only a minor annoyance - it doesn't take up a large portion of my screen. Nonetheless, as the OP indicated, between sessions, Quicken "forgets" that we have minimized the Bill & Income Reminders panel for investment. That panel will stay minimized for banking accounts - until there are new reminders, but it won't stay minimized for investment accounts, even when there are no new reminders. Merely closing and restarting Quicken causes the Reminders panels to reappear for investments. I am using the same version of Quicken as you - version R60.18 Business & Personal.
Note that in my case, this behaviour is present for MOST - BUT NOT ALL - investment accounts. It is NOT obvious why some accounts display the Reminders section as expected and other account exhibit the odd behaviour. It is not evident why there is inconsistent behaviour between the accounts… nor is it obvious what triggers the odd behaviour.

Here's my settings screens:
At least I'm not the only one experiencing this.
Thanks for your help.

What I am seeing in one investing account in QWin US R60.15 is that the Downloaded transactions area at the bottom of the Transaction List is the same height as usual but even if only one transaction is downloaded, there is a scroll bar and after accepting the transaction I must scroll over a lot of white space to get to the Done button. There are no Reminders to show in this account. This is new behavior with a FI that I only update once per month. There are two accounts with this FI and only one exhibits this behavior.
I will watch this to see if affects other accounts.
This is Direct Connect and Sync is off.
