Budget Notes Indicator Not Visible

When a note is added to a budget item, for a line and or month, the cell is marked with a small res triangle at the upper right corner. When the application is closed and reopened, these triangles disappear, so it is hard to Know where the notes were added. The note continues to exist in the cell.

Yep, It's been like this for at least a year for me. Very annoying. I tried to find my post on this issue but can't find it. A fix would be welcome.

    Hello @Jorge R & @Dom1,

I apologize for any inconvenience this issue may be causing.

Could you please provide the steps you are taking to produce this issue as well as provide screenshots so I can attempt to replicate it? If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to you response if you are not given the option to add attachments.

    Thank you!

I entered a number of notes in my subscription category for 2025 yesterday. The notes are still there but no indicator (see below). I must say that I just entered a note under my fuel category and the note indicator is still present even after logging out and logging back in. Not sure if it will be there tomorrow or not. Can't say what sequence of events have caused this in the past, whether immediate or after logging out, etc…

Thank you for following up with the additional details and a screenshot.

To avoid repeating anything, have you tried any troubleshooting so far? Also, can you tell us if you sync your file to the Quicken Cloud for the purpose of using Quicken on the Web or the Quicken Mobile app? If not, have you tried turning off Cloud Sync to see if it makes any difference?

You can turn off cloud sync by navigating to Edit > Preferences > Mobile & Web > Switch the Sync toggle to OFF.

Check back and let us know!

For me, the red triangle appears at the one category where I recorded a Note, even after switching to other views and back.
Are you using "View / Use large fonts" or a Control Panel setting to make text appear larger than 100%? Compared to mine, your columns appear a little close together with large text.

Not sure what I would troubleshoot. I don't sync to either cloud or mobile.

I use large fonts. Turned it off but there is no difference. No Control Panel Settings.

Since the last note I placed was on fuel and that is still showing I figured I would try a note on two different categories. Once I exit Quicken and open again the note icon is no longer present for these two categories but the notes are there. Fuel note icon is still visible. Not sure if it's a category issue but I'm looking at that now.

It's not the category and don't see anything that would cause this. I'm really surprised the note on fuel still exists.

Thank you for following up with additional details.

Since you don't have cloud sync turned on and changing large font settings had no impact, next, I suggest that you please try validating and/or super validating your data file. However, I do recommend that you first save a backup file prior to performing these steps.

    Validate:

    1. File
    2. Validate and Repair File...
    3. Validate File
    4. Click OK
    5. Close the Data Log
    6. Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
    7. Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

If the issue persists, proceed to Super Validate. If the issue is resolved after performing validation, then please disregard the instructions to Super Validate.

    Super Validate:

    1. File
    2. Hold CTRL + Shift and click Validate and Repair File...
    3. Super Validate File
    4. Click OK
    5. Close the Data Log
    6. Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
    7. Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

Let us know how it goes!

Well this is rather odd. All my notes that I entered for 2025 now have the indicator. I have done nothing since my last post beyond open Quicken for the new year. I have not run validate or super validate although I have run these in the past with no issues. I have no idea the reason for this nor if they will continue to be present moving forward. If they disappear, I'll be back.

Thanks All and Happy New Year
