so… according to the attached screenshot from the quicken website, the implication is that QC B&P Mac can and should be able to track rental property payments, expenses, etc.

i had some additional specific questions so i called the customer service phone number. the sales rep said that the 'rent center' isn't available on the mac… yet, nor did they have any idea when it would be.

so… which is it? if it isn't, why does the website imply that it is? and if it is, why doesn't the sales rep know that?

as you might be able to tell, i'm very interested in that product and would subscribe tomorrow if those features are available.

please advise.

thank you

    Hello @gevalt,

I apologize for any confusion. Quicken for Mac Business & Personal does not have a Rental Property Manager module, like Quicken for Windows does.

It does allow you to track income and expenses for a rental property (Schedule E). You are able to designate income and expenses associated with a rental property by using categories that have a Schedule E tax line item associated with them.

To create a category with a Schedule E tax line item, go to Window>Categories. In the Categories list that comes up, click the + sign near the lower left to create a new category. Fill out the information, as appropriate, and click Save when done.

Note: In Usage, select Business if you want Quicken to associate the transactions with the business you have created in your Quicken. If you do not want the transactions associated with that business, select Personal.

    I hope this helps!

@gevalt Quicken's website and marketing have unfortunately long been inaccurate and misleading regarding the differences between Quicken Mac and Quicken Windows. The current release of Quicken Mac just added invoicing (including clients, payments, sales tax tracking outstanding receivables, etc.), a major leap forward in bringing business features to Quicken Mac. But as @Quicken Kristina stated, there are no specific rental property features in Quicken Mac at this point; there have been no clues about whether the developers plan to built such functionality in the future. But using separate Businesses and/or Clients and/or Products, I think most people who have a few rental properties will be able to work successfully with Quicken Mac.
