Ideas for budgeting and accounts

Make it possible to associate an account with a budget and limit choices in the category drop down to only those categories in the associated budget…this preventing entering data for a category that is not in the budget. If this is not possible, perhaps bold or color those categories in the drop down that are in the currently associated budget.

    Hello @Richard K,

Thank you for coming to the Community to provide feedback! It is already possible to limit the account(s) that a budget sees. You can do that by selecting Budget Actions (near the upper right), then Select accounts….

Unfortunately, the second part of what you're asking for, being able to limit the categories to just the ones in use by the selected account(s), or highlight the applicable categories to make them easier to identify, is not currently available in Quicken for Windows. If this is something you'd like to see added, I recommend creating an Idea post to request the feature be added. Ideas that get enough votes may be implemented in the future! For more information on creating an Idea post, please see the post linked below:

    I hope this helps!

May I ask … why would you need to do this?
What reason do you have to restrict an account to a specific budget?
