Investment Performance Report Overall Total Erroneous Calculations

R61.16 just dropped and purportedly "FIXED: Issues with Overall Total calculations in Investment Performance Report when subtotaling by Security Type." Not so much … when I subtotal by Security, Security Type, or Investment Goal it now leaves out the Overall Total on the report but does show it on the Graph. Can Quicken explain this???

Subtotal by Account: Has Overall Total

Subtotal by: Security: No longer shows Overall Total

Subtotal by: Investment Goal: No longer shows Overall Total

That sounds like they reverted to the prior version. Can you hover over the dot at the end of the “Total IRR” line on the graph and get a value? Do you have reason to believe or disbelieve the value?

Yes, you can hover over the dot and get the "Total IRR." One issue is that the "Overall Total" line no longer appears.

The answer to whether I believe or disbelieve is neither. I can't prove or disprove the accuracy of the results but I expect consistent results using same account with different filters. For example:

There was an extensive discussion about this previously under the same title:

Investment Performance Report Overall Total Erroneous Calculations

I think the basic conclusion was that reporting involving cash transactions skewed the results. The "No Security" selection is really "No Security (includes Cash)." I ran some test scenarios summarized above. The test scenario of checking only "No Security …" and looking for what is causing difference does not pull up any xnsactions.

Starting this year, I've been trying to be thorough about tracking cash transactions into cash sweep securities like Money Market funds, or Cash securities.

If this is really "working as designed" then a more thorough explanation of what the "design" is should be given.

The believe or disbelieve question — I think your summary table says it. I am assuming you are tabulating that hover-over return value. Your first column showing 11.26% vs 8.51% as compared to the second column of 11.40%.

The cash component in that one account across the year pull down the performance from 11.4% to 11.26%. Probably pretty reasonable.

That subtotaling by security or goal at 8.51% vs no subtotal at 11.26% sounds like the same omission we were seeing before. Why 8.51% vs 11.40%? I'd have to see the detail on both and compare to what Excel calculates to see what is missing or different.

All in all, it does not sound like the hover-over total on the graph is accurate.
