Fidelity Transactions Not Downloading

I have several different accounts with Fidelity, and I am downloading using Direct Connect (Quicken Connect didn't work). I have several problems: first, Quicken is not downloading transactions prior to December 2024. Second, Fidelity is not permitting the download for the cost basis for the securities in the account. I spoke to several Fidelity representatives and they advised me that the Fidelity "development team" is not authorizing the download of cost basis, because it presents a "security problem". This makes no sense to me. Third, Quicken downloaded one or more transactions that are not to be found on the Fidelity website. Any suggestions?

Hello @slips,
Thank you for reaching out with these issues.
Unfortunately, the information available to download within Quicken does come directly from the financial institution and their servers, which Quicken does not have access to. It would be up to Fidelity to reach out to Quicken to make the cost basis for securities available for download. As far as being unable to download transactions prior to December 2024, this could be due to Fidelity's restrictions. Most financial institutions only allow past transactions to be downloaded within the 30-90 day range. Is this issue new? When did it begin? Are you receiving any error codes or messages? For, the other downloaded transactions, are these ghost transactions (not real transactions that Quicken made up)?
Let me know!

It used to be that Fidelity would download up to 2 yrs of data during the initial account setup in Quicken. I do not know if this applies to everyone and all types of accounts but I just added a Fidelity taxable brokerage account to a test file and the download included data for just the last 3 months.
Successive downloads: The Fidelity website strongly recommends downloading transactions into Quicken at least once every 30 days after that because that is all they will download after the initial download setup. Failure to do that will result in transactions >30 days ago not being downloaded.
There is nothing we can do to get Fidelity (or any financial institution) to download more data than their set download parameters.
It also means that if you want to download transactions >90 days ago (for initial download setup) or >30 days ago (for successive downloads) that data will need to be manually entered. (I know Fidelity supports downloading older transactions than this in CSV formatted files but I believe QMac does not support importing CSV files. I also know there is at least one 3rd party program that can convert CSV files into QIF files that QWin can then import but that program is not compatible with Mac. I do not know if there is a similar 3rd party file conversion program that can do the same for QMac.)
Regarding Cost Basis: Correct…Fidelity does not download cost basis. I don't think any financial institution does that but I might be mistaken about that. Quicken will calculate the cost basis based upon the lots and cost data that is included in Quicken.
What some have done to get an accurate cost basis in Quicken when there is missing lots history is to add a single transaction to Quicken for each security, entering the total number of shares held and the average cost of those shares dated 1 day before the earliest lot history in Quicken.
Third, Quicken downloaded one or more transactions that are not to be found on the Fidelity website. Any suggestions?
What kind of transaction(s)?
In QWin, Quicken will add Placeholder transactions to identify when there is a discrepancy between the shares held in QWin and the shares reported by the investment company. These are not real downloaded transactions. They are intended simply to help the user see what the differences are so the user can then enter transactions to resolve the discrepancies. This often happens during the initial setup download when the holding outside of the initial download window (in this case >90 days earlier) are not downloaded. These Placeholders, in this scenario can be used to set up and enter the lump sum data transactions I referenced in my 6th paragraph above. Does QMac utilize Placeholders? If so, then maybe these transactions you are referring to are Placeholders?
