Transpose Feature in Reports to Address 250 Column Limit

This idea simply seeks to create a "Transpose" feature to transpose the orientation of the matrix created by Reports. The universal default structure of Reports is to tabulate the Reported Values being reported on in a matrix, with Date along the Horizontal Axis (top row) and the primary non-date value or name appearing in the Vertical (left-most column). The "Transpose" feature would simply transpose this structure so that Date appears in the Left-Most Column and the Value or Name of Interest appears in the Horizontal Axis (Top Row).

For example, a "Transposed" Account Balances Report would be arranged with Date in the Left-Most Column, and the various accounts would appear in the Top Row, with the corresponding data appearing in the matrix. This compares to the default, which would have Date across the top, and Account Names down the Left Column.

This feature would be extremely useful to Quicken users who do considerable off-line analysis of their data in an external environment, such as Excel, or other similar or more powerful analysis platforms. Date in the First Column is a far more natural way of arranging data for off-line analysis.

For what it's worth, my main interest in the feature above is to:

    1. Present a more natural layout for Time Series data, with Date as the first column, in Oldest-to-Newest order
    2. Circumvent the highly limiting 250 Column Limit in All Reports, particularly for users that Export their report for further analysis and processing in Excel, or other external software that can import CSV's or Clipboard data

Now that the Daily interval is available for some reports, this Idea makes a lot of sense.

The Net Worth and Account Balances reports would benefit the most from this change. Note that the Account Balances report does not currently include a Daily interval.

Bumping this Idea to see if there is interest.

I still think this would be valuable. For example, with a Weekly interval the allowable date range is less than 5 years. With a daily interval, you can only display or export about 8 months of data.

With only 3 votes in over a year, it will be about 16 years before this Idea reaches the 50 votes required before it is considered for implementation.

Thanks for that Jim. It would be great if there was a way to identify and reach out directly to all Quicken customers who are also significant Excel users and use their Quicken data in Excel as a significant complement to what they do directly in Quicken. I have to believe this is a significant segment of the Community because true long term Quicken users are detail-oriented, and are likely to use multiple tools, such as Excel to further their efforts. I hope we can accelerate this idea forward before too long.
