QMac 8.1 - how to access the new business report filters?

Quicken Mac Subscription Member, SuperUser, Mac Beta Beta

The release notes for Quicken Mac Business & Personal that came out today say that Transaction reports can now filter based on Client … and presumably on Business as well:

But, if I open a Transactions by Category, Transactions by Account, etc report - there are no filters for Client or Business. I can display the Business and/or Client in columns on the report now which is a great improvement.

With the Business reports (vs Transactions)…

  • The Business Income Statement and Business Profitability reports can be filtered by both Business and Client (which is great - can generate a Profitability by business, or profitability by Client report among others).
  • The Business Cash Flow Statement can be filtered only by Business

So, how do we filter transaction reports in 8.1 as described in the "What's New" screenshot?

    Hello @MontanaKarl,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

I see the same thing that you do. There is the option to add the Business and Client columns, and it's possible to sort by business or client, but I'm not seeing any option to filter by business or client anywhere except the business-specific reports. I also see the same thing as you do in the Business Cash Flow Statement report. It has the option to filter by Business, but I don't see an option to filter by Client (The Business Cash Flow Comparison report and Business Sales Tax Liability report also lack the option to filter by Client).

I forwarded this to our teams for clarification.

    Thank you!

Hello @MontanaKarl! Business and Client columns are available for the transactional reports. For example, open Business Income Statement, then drill down to Revenue, or Total Income, or Total Expense, etc. amounts. It would open the Business Income Statement Details report where you can see the Business and Client columns. Click on the "columns" icon at the upper left corner to specify what columns to show on the report.

    Hope this is helpful.

    Thank you!

Thanks! Got that. But the "What's New" card in the screenshot says that we can "easily… filter transactions by client". That's what I'm asking about… there doesn't seem to be an option under "Edit" to filter by client as there is for accounts, categories, etc…

Hello @MontanaKarl. The Client filter is different from the Business and Client columns.

These are the Business and Client columns on the Details reports. You can specify set of columns by clicking on the View icon.

This is a Client filter under the report's Edit options. This is not new to v8.1.

    Thank you!
