Fidelity Investments

Is anyone out there able to download from Fidelity Investments to an up to date Quicken Classic?
If so, how did you do it?

Ah, that "digital.Fidelity.com" is when you log into your online account. This is what you should see there. It does not have anything to do with downloading into Quicken. Quicken connects with financial institutions (FI) differently (different ports, different URLs, etc.). So, that explains why I did not find it anywhere in the FIDIR list.
Fidelity - Investments & Retirement Accounts for QWin is to be used for downloading the Fidelity Visa Card transactions, only…and it works well for this credit card.
However, it should not be used for downloading investment accounts data because it supports only Simple Tracking (that dashboard view that will show securities shares and values, not transactions) only and even when it does add/set up investment accounts in QWin it does not do that accurately (wrong security names, wrong values, does not update correctly or at all, etc.). This FI for investments and retirement accounts was intended for use only with QMac, not QWin. I've hoping that this FI would be blocked for investments and retirement accounts in QWin. Unfortunately, that appears not to have happened.
From the information you provided it does appear that Fidelity Investments in Add Account is the correct FI to be selecting. Does your login PW for Fidelity.com include any of these special characters?: &, <, >, \, or /. For some reason, these special characters in PWs (especially those that are saved in the PW Vault) can sometimes cause issues when trying to set up a download connection. You can read more about this in the Support Article at
.What I suggest next:
- Back up your data file and then go to Account Details for that new account you got download via Fidelity - Investments & Retirement Accounts and delete it. You can do this at Account Details and then click on the Delete Account button. I can assure you that if you do not do this you will end up regretting it.
- If your Fidelity.com PW does contain one or more of these special characters (or any special characters), try changing your Fidelity.com login PW to something else that does not include those special characters (you should be able to use other special characters without issue). Then come back to Quicken and do Tools > Add Account, select Fidelity Investments and use the new PW during the set up process.
Let me know how it goes.

Hello @Moorhatch,
We appreciate you reaching out to tell us about your issue, though we will need some additional information to further investigate.
Could you please elaborate and tell us exactly what you are experiencing when trying to connect with Fidelity Investments? Do you receive any specific error codes/messages while trying to connect that you can provide us with here, please?
It may also be helpful if you could provide a screenshot of what you are seeing. If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to your response if you are not given the option to add attachments.
Thank you!

As stated previously, I have added to Quicken two investment and one retirement account
from Fidelity. I click on On line services then click on set up now. I DO HAVE A FIDELITY USER NAME AND PASSWORD. Quicken routes me to the Activate One Step screen and lets me go no further. If the Community can't help me, what are my alternate support options to get this problem solved.

I have multiple Fidelity Investments accounts in a few different data files and OSU has been working well. There was one exception yesterday for me in one data file where OSU returned an OL-29X error code (I don't remember what the last digit was). But a few minutes later I did Update Now and the download then processed correctly.
How long have you had this issue? If it just started yesterday or today, it could be that Fidelity is doing system maintenance and by tomorrow morning or later today the setup process will complete properly.
You mentioned that you used Set Up Now on the Online Services tab of Account Details to try to set up Fidelity Investments for downloading. I generally do not use that when setting up an account for downloading the first time because it can sometimes returns errors or does not complete properly. I think (just a guess) it's because Set Up Now tends to select which financial institution to use (when there are multiple options available) based upon the information entered into the General tab of Account details and sometimes it "guesses" incorrectly. (Set Up Now generally seems to work pretty well in most cases when an account was previously set up for downloading but for whatever reason the download connection had become deactivated.)
Have you tried going to Tools > Add Account > type in Fidelity Investments > Next and then follow the prompts and when prompted make sure to Link the downloads to the correct accounts already entered into Quicken? Add Account allows you to very specifically select which financial institution is to be used. Because of this, I usually opt to use Add Account instead of Set Up Now.

@Moorhatch You said that it will let you go no further. What EXACTLY happens when you click Next on the screen you displayed?
You might also try contacting Fidelity Customer Support at the number shown in your graphic. My experience is that, unlike MANY FIs, they seem to be quite knowledgeable about Q.

Thank you for the responses.
I am new to Fidelity so these are new accounts.
Re Boatnmaniac: In response to your suggestion, I deleted the accounts that I had already entered and had problems with. Because they are new accounts, no data was affected. I went to tools, add account and typed in Fidelity investments. The first attempt resulted in a Com Error, not my fault. When I clicked try again, the print screen shows the result. I do have and am able to log into Fidelity.com. The url for the site is: …digital.Fidelity.com . Is quicken looking for fidelity.com? In any case, I'm still ending up at the same roadblock.
Re notacpa: I did contact Fidelity. They referred me to their FAQ;s re syncing with quicken. The FAQ's say it can be done but don't identify how. When I called them they said it was a quicken problem. I've noted a January 2025 discussion re: Trouble downloading from Fidelity which was supposedly resolved by Quicken. I'm hoping for a similar resolution. On the surface, I don't see what I'm doing wrong.

I just noticed on the Add Account screen that there's a "I have a Direct Connect user name and password" option. I don't have either that I'm aware of. Should I be getting them in order to solve this problem?

@Moorhatch - I've never seen that Direct Connect (DC) message from Fidelity before because Fidelity Investments does not have a unique DC name and password. Just use the website account login.
And that digital.Fidelity.com is not something I've seen before. Nor is it included in the FIDIR (Financial Institutions Directory) list. The FIDIR is what lists all financial institutions that support Quicken and the types of accounts and download connection methods they support, along with the applicable URLs.
This tells me that perhaps you are attempting to set up the download connection with the wrong Fidelity financial institution for the type of account(s) that you have with Fidelity. Fidelity has several different connection options in Quicken with each designed for use with specific types of accounts. Can you tell us more about what kind of account(s) you have at Fidelity?
- Employer 401K plan?
- Individual standard taxable brokerage account?
- Individual IRA or Roth IRA or some other type of retirement account (other than an employer 401K or other type of employer retirement account)?
- Are they institutional accounts?

To clarify, when logging into Fidelity, I enter Fidelity.com. It is after I enter my user and password that the URL becomes digital.fidelity
I have an IRA, a Roth Ira and a Trust (I believe standard taxable) account. When I've previously added the accounts by indicating that I'll manually input data because I couldn't get passed the roadblock, Quicken categorized the IRA as a retirement account and the Roth and Trust as investment accounts. This is in spite of the fact the the Roth account is an IRA. When "adding an account," Quicken gave me two choices when I entered Fidelity. I selected "Fidelity Investments" when adding the accounts (url= Fidelity.com). The other choice was Fidelity Net Benefits. That url, www.401K.com, wasn't even close. The remaining choices were all banks.
The accounts are all personal, not institutional. When I retired, my Employer 401 K was rolled over into an IRA.

Maybe you've helped my solve the problem. There is a "Fidelity Investments and Retirement" option. Using it got me further into the process including an agreement from the Fidelity side to share information. Unfortunately, at the next step, and while still in the Fidelity site, I got the following:
The page you requested is currently unavailable. Please try again later.
I will do so, and hopefully, it will work.

I tried again, and it worked! Yipee and thank you.

Well, I was too happy, too soon. While quicken has added the accounts, the data isn't being downloaded. Now I'm trying to understand how to create a quicken web connect file. I'm able to do so from my bank because there is a link on the bank's side of the communication. I see no such link in Fidelity. Any suggestions?

One additional comment: You said you wanted to find out how to create a Web Connect file. You cannot create it. Only the FI can create it. But Fidelity does not support Web Connect so that message is bogus. Another reason why you need to delete that account that was set up via Fidelity - Investments & Retirement Accounts.

Thank you everyone for your help. Changing the password and changing back to Fidelity Investments did the trick.
