Portfolio view: Name field no longer allows Symbol only (since R62.14)

Name field on investment tab / portfolio previously allowed customization to show ONLY symbol in NAME column. Now it allows to ALSO show symbol in name column, thus you are stuck with ALWAYS showing long name field and ability to add symbol. I want ONLY show symbol as it worked before this latest update…. How can I accomplish this under new release R62.14???

Hello @GaryB1234,
Thank you for letting us know about this change! I updated my Quicken to R62.14 and see the same thing you do. I'm not seeing anything in the release notes indicating this is a deliberate change.
I forwarded this to the proper channels to confirm if this is a deliberate change or a bug.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

I have the same issue. I only want to display the symbol. Don't need the name to show, as it takes up too much room and clutters the screen. Please correct the display so it works as it did before, 'either/or'.
Forcing both to display is not an improvement.

Ditto here. Display only the name.

Thank you Gary and Kristina. I noticed the same issue today. It's a challenge because I export to Excel and have formulas using the symbol only and now I have to move all my references to the "ticker symbol" column instead. Reverting back to the symbol only option would be a nice time saver!
An Alternate fix is to allow the "Ticker Symbol" field to be placed in the column 1 position. Right now it is only available as column 2 or beyond. Would you present this option as well? @Quicken Kristina.

This looks intentional, but like the others I don't like the change. I know all my securities by symbol, and using just the symbol saves a lot of horizontal column space for more important information.
I had to rollback to R61.20 to see the old behavior:
Notice the wording on the option in the dialog.
And now the new one sing R62.XX:
And trying to just "truncate it" looks very messy and hard to read:

I just updated to 62.16 (I skipped 62.14) and am seeing the same. Makes things more difficult to read. Would be good to fix it if its a bug, or offer the option for symbol only (as it was before) if its intentional.

@Chris_QPW - Can you tell me how to roll back to the previous version? Thanks.

@mrzookie I don't recommend it for anything other than testing, but the way you do it is by installing the older patch install (and making sure you block Quicken from installing the latest one which might involve turning off you Internet connection while doing the install).
You can get the old patch installs here:

@mrzookie I reverted to 61.21 using the patch method described by Chris_QPW without incident in order to get the display of just symbols in the name column. The only bummer to this is that I am constantly prompted to update to the latest version. Anyone know how to get rid of these nagging prompts???

I have added a rule to my Firewall to block quickenPatch.exe. The downside to this is that on the days that the first Quicken start happens and it decides to check for updates, Quicken will fail to start and present an error. Starting it again, Quicken starts normally. You also never know if there is a newer version unless you periodically check this Quicken webpage.
So, it is a question of which is the better choice for your process, only you can say.
