One Step Update Download transactions and balances not staying checked

Each time I want to do a download and update I have to go in and select the accounts from which I want to download. I try clicking apply, but not matter what I do the next time I'm ready to download none of the accounts are checked. The Online services stay checked.

    Hello @Randy Wawrzyniak-Fry,

Thank you for letting us know you're encountering this issue. To clarify, is the screenshot you included edited to mask the accounts/financial institutions, or is that exactly what you see in your Quicken when you run One Step Update (OSU)?

When did you first notice this issue with your preferences not being saved for the next time you run OSU? Is this affecting all of the financial institutions you update, or only some?

I look forward to your reply!

I am also having this problem. It seemed to start about a week ago. I usually have one or two accounts unchecked because I have to initiate them from my financial institution or else it will change my account to simple investments instead of complete. I do not know if it occurs if all the accounts are checked.

    Hello @ramrhein,

Thanks for adding to this discussion and telling us about this issue!

To better assist you, could you please provide the following details?

    • Where is your Quicken data file stored? Is it on your local hard drive (C: Drive) or a cloud-based/external drive (e.g.: OneDrive, DropBox, USB, etc.)?
    • Have you attempted any troubleshooting steps so far? If so, what were they?
    • Are you using a VPN while updating your accounts? If so, does disabling it make any difference?
    • Do you have any antivirus or malware protection software running that may be interfering with Quicken? If so, have you tried temporarily disabling it to see if the issue persists?
    • Were there any significant changes to your system or software before the issue began (updates, new installations, etc.)?

Your answers will help us diagnose the issue more effectively.

    Looking forward to your response!

My data file is local (c: Drive).

Not much to troubleshoot. The boxes used to say checked to the last change and would come up the same the next update, now they always come up unchecked. Not sure where the information is saved (in a file or in the registry)

    No VPN

Only using Windows Security delivered through Windows 11. I would think Quicken would not be bothered by a widely used antivirus

No new applications. Only normal Windows Updates that are released. Hard to say exactly when it started occurring if it was right after a windows update or not. But again I would not think that a windows update would affect how Quicken stores preferences. I am on Version R62.16, Build 27.1.62.16 and I'm not sure if the problem started right after a Quicken update or not.

@ramrhein Thanks for following up with those details!

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling Quicken? Please refer to the following support articles for instructions on uninstalling here and reinstalling here.

However, after you have uninstalled and before you proceed with reinstalling, please open your Windows File Explorer and navigate to This PC > C: Drive > Program Files (x86) and delete the folder titled "Quicken" (doing so does not affect your data files).

After you have deleted this folder, go ahead and try reinstalling.

Let us know how it goes!

It almost worked. After uninstalling and deleting the folder, I reinstalled and ran OSU. All the boxes were checked. I unchecked the two accounts that I do manually and ran OSU. It completed. When I went back into OSU all the boxes were unchecked again. At the end, it didn't work uninstalling and reinstalling.

Maybe you can tell me where those preferences are saved and I can check for that file/registry entry.
