I would like to see a default category available as an option. This would help me immensely in transaction entry

    Do you use Reminders and the Memorized Payee List? I have a list of 134 Payees and about 50 Reminders that cover over 90% of my transactions.

    With Memorized Payees, you just type in the first few letters of the Payee name and it populates your selected Category for that Payee and the amount (if you want that) for you.

    Reminders are for transactions like monthly bills. You set up the schedule, the Payee name, the Category, and the amount if you want and they are either entered in your register automatically or you are prompted to enter the amount for that period.

    As long as I could set the default to what it is today (Uncategorized) I wouldn't have a problem with this.

    @Gumdoc what type of Quicken are you using? Quicken for Windows or Quicken for Mac?
