Memorized Payee List Not Working After Latest Update
Yes, I am opening a new discussion on an old topic.
When I attempt to click on Use for a Memorized Payee List entry, it does not update the item I have selected in my checking register. This problem first showed up when I upgraded to Build 27.1.63.21. When I went back to 27.1.62.14 MPLs work again. I just allowed the 27.1.64.30 to be installed and MPLs are broken again. I went back to 27.1.62.14 again and MPLs are working again.

Hello @dpphippsjr,
Thank you for sharing your experience. To clarify, is this happening with every memorized payee or only certain ones? What method are you using when selecting memorized payees? Is the issue happening only in your checking account register? Which information is failing to update?
I look forward to your reply!

Hello Kristina,
It is happening with every memorized payee. I select the transaction, click on Tools, click on Memorized Payee List, right click on the entry I want to use and select Use. I only use MPL entries in my checking account register. The entry in the checking account register is not updated at all. Nothing from the MPL entry is being populated in the checking account register.

Thank you for your reply,
I attempted to replicate the issue by following the process that you described. When I follow that process in my Quicken, it updates the transaction with the memorized information (using version R64.30).
This may be a file specific issue, although it is strange that reverting to an earlier version seems to fix it. I suggest that you try validating your data file. Please save a backup file prior to performing these steps.
Validate:
- File
- Validate and Repair File...
- Validate File
- Click OK
- Close the Data Log
- Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
- Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.
Please let me know how it goes!

Hello Kristina,
In my previous case,
I perform the validate and repair and that did not correct the situation.
Thanks, Dan

Have you tried rebuilding the MPL?
Rebuild MPL
After creating a backup of your Quicken data file …
To rebuild the Memorized Payee List from existing transactions, click Tools, hold down Shift and CTRL, then click Memorized Payee List.OTOH, until someone can figure out why "Use" doesn't work for you, how about an alternative?
When starting a new transaction, after entering the transaction date, tab into the Payee Name field. Begin typing the Payee Name. This brings up a selection list from the MPL. Mouse select (click) the desired entry. Now finish entering the remaining fields of the transaction and Save.1 -
UKR,
That did not work and made things worse. That caused 100+ MPL entries to be created and none of them worked correctly, so the problem was not fixed.
Thanks, Dan

Thank you for your reply,
Since neither the validate nor rebuilding the memorized payee list corrected the issue, the next step is to try restoring a backup file from before the issue started, and test to see if the issue happens in that newly restored file.
Thank you!
