When will we have to allow Fidelity / Quicken to convert to new download protocol
I made the mistake of allowing the new way to download Fidelity into Quicken a week or so back and it was awful what it did to the Fidelity Account. Thank goodness I had a recent backup and was able to use it. Now I have been declining the new method each time I update. How long will it take for the new method to work troublefree? Will Quicken let us know?

I've been looking forward to the change because it seems to work well with the other accounts that switched over but I decided not to switch over because of the problems people are having. It's the complaints about money market sweep transactions not behaving the way people expect. The cash or share balances don't seem to be matching depending on if they are treating the sweep accounts as cash or a security.
I don't know when it will be safe to switch over but I plan to keep selecting "remind me next time" until there's a consensus that it's fixed or quicken stops offering the option to delay the change.

That's my plan also.

I don't think Quicken Inc is going ever say "Everything is fixed, go ahead and convert now." Probably the "strongest suggestion" will be that you are not given the option anymore. But even then, that is no guarantee that it will go trouble free for everyone.

Based on my horrific experience, much less the the 40+ hours I wasted, I am waiting until I stop seeing continual reporting of the problems I experienced plus new problems, or they force me to migrate.

More, if that option goes away before the problems are fixed, I'll take my Fidelity accounts offline and update them manually rather than try to battle the continuing issues.

BTW I think one problem with the statement is the word "trouble free". Clearly when the conversion started, there was almost no chance that one would do the conversion and be able to even do workarounds and be able to continue with Express Web Connect + and not have problems. In the meantime, clearly there have been changes from Fidelity that have fixed some of the problems, and now the R64.30 which deals Quicken even deals with money market funds. And it might be approaching the level where if you do the things suggested like selecting the correct choice for how to represent the cash then it might work. But if one thinks that for everyone they will just switch over and have to do absolutely nothing "trouble free", I doubt that day will come. Some might get that lucky, but I doubt everyone will.
I notice in the Quicken Mac world they don't have this selection for "cash representation" from what I read in their threads. So, instead it seems that they are forcing all the mutual funds to be "cash", no choices. But then there is the fact that Fidelity has also been changing the names of some of these securities, and what the user is being required to do is merge some of their securities.
The bottom line is that they have encountered several problems that have required changes at basically all the levels, and as such depending on what securities one owns, they may have to do some kind of clean up.
As a person that doesn't have any Fidelity accounts, I see this though as a possible win. The way Quicken was dealing with the mutual funds/cash wasn't ideal. With this change in 64.30 which is supposed to be for every financial institution it might be handled better (the jury is still out on that part though).

After doing everything suggested in these messages, I still have the same problems with Fidelity Investments and Quicken. This has been a DISASTER for those of us who have relied on Quicken for over 20 years. It worked perfectly before this change-over, and now it never works correctly. How could any well-run company allow this to happen to its customers? Get some smart people into the room and FIX IT NOW. When I finally find a software product that does all of this correctly, I'd move immediately.

" How could any well-run company allow this to happen to its customers?"
Which company are you referencing? It's Fidelity that's driving this change and Fidelity that's screwing up.

Yes, to be fair, Fidelity does appear to be the source of many of the current problems.
But also to be fair, Quicken has a long track record of having these sorts of problems. They should know how to test for, validate, and reduce the impact of such changes.

You forgot to include Intuit.

I think the correct answer is to continue what most of us have been doing. Don't agree till you do not have a choice. In the meantime, be sure to backup your account every time you use it, even if daily. It would have been a nightmare to fix what happened to me when I first clicked allowed.

The conversion is still a problem as of today. Looks like I'll have to take off Fidelity from my Quicken program. [Removed-Disruptive]

Got to get this fixed or we have to find an alternative. Just not worth the hassle any more. Too time consuming.
