Monthly Salaries are displayed incorrectly
The monthly paycheck reminder in Bills & Income is not displaying the correct amount for our monthly paychecks. This is the amount displayed in the Bills & Income tab for all views (Stack, Biller Name, Due Date, etc)
When I click Enter on the paycheck, the "Edit Current Paycheck and Enter into Register" dialogue shows all the splits with their correct values and the correct pay amounts. I continued with entering a paycheck for November 30th, and the entry resulted in the correct value in the register and the correct splits. However, I have scrolled forward to the December 31st paycheck reminder, and it is again displaying incorrectly there.
I have attached an image and marked in red the correct pay amount in the foreground and the $0.00 displayed in the Bills & Income in the background.
I have verified that Edit > Preferences > Mobile and Web > Sync is OFF, as I've read elsewhere that causes an issue with paychecks. I have never used web or mobile, and that sync has been off for a long time.
I'm using Quicken Classic for Windows (Release R65.17)

Hello @bumgarb,
Thanks for the detailed explanation—that’s very helpful, and the screenshot comparison makes the issue clear.
To better understand what might be causing the incorrect amount to display in Bills & Income, I have a few questions:
- Where is your Quicken data file stored? Is it on your local hard drive (C:\ drive), or is it located on a cloud-synced or external location such as OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive, or a USB drive?
- When did this issue first begin? Had the paycheck reminder been displaying correctly previously, or has it always shown $0.00?
- Have you attempted any troubleshooting steps so far? If so, what have you tried?
- Did anything change on your system around the time this started? For example, a recent Quicken update (other than R65.17), Windows update, new antivirus, or anything similar?
Once we have these details, we can narrow down what’s causing the discrepancy between the reminder preview and the actual paycheck entry.
Looking forward to your response!

Hi Anja,
My Quicken file is on the C:\ drive.
The paychecks were displayed normally in October. We are only paid monthly at the end of the month, so attempting to enter November paychecks was the first time I've had/noticed the issue.
The only thing I've attempted is what I posted above. I proceeded with entering November paychecks to see if the display would correct for the December 31st entries, but so far, the incorrect values are still displayed. No other values in our Bills & Income are showing incorrectly, just the paychecks.
The only changes to the PC would be Windows updates around November 12th to 14th. I delay my Windows updates by 28 days, so this PC has the October 2025 Cumulative Updates instead of the November 2025 updates.
Thanks,
Brad

@bumgarb Thanks for the follow-up.
Since the paycheck amounts were displaying correctly as recently as October and the issue seems isolated to the reminder preview (while the actual entered transactions are correct), the next step I recommend is to restore a backup from before the problem started. This will help determine whether the issue is tied to a recent file change or corruption within the current data file.
If you have an automatic or manual backup from late October or early November, please try restoring that file and check whether the paycheck reminders display properly there.
Let me know what you find after restoring the backup, and we can go from there.

Thank you for the suggestion. I made a bunch of Quicken restore files from backups.
Backup from 11/04 - Paychecks reminder for 11/30 are messed up
Backup from 11/03 after correcting a Credit Card reconcile issue - Paychecks reminder for 11/30 are messed up
Backup from 11/03 before correcting a Credit Card reconcile issue - Paychecks reminder for 11/30 are messed up
Backup from 10/31 - Paychecks reminder for 11/30 are correct. Also, since this is now over a month old, the 12/31 paycheck reminders also appear in the list and are showing correctly. So I attempted a test entry for the 11/30 paychecks. The 12/31 paychecks still displayed correctly after this test entry.
So it seems some kind of corruption has happened after 10/31 and before 11/03.
I cannot rewind all the way to October 31st and re-enter, rereconcile, etc. So I decided to test deleting and recreating the paycheck reminders.
I made a copy of the most recent backup, dated 12/03. I switched to the "Biller Name" view, and noticed that each corrupted paycheck shows "2 splits" instead of the "8 splits" shown in the correct 10/31 backup. I deleted the existing paycheck reminder and recreated each of them. I then did a test entry for the paychecks that would be dated 12/31. After that entry, the reminders were updated to the paychecks that would be 01/31/2026, and the reminders displayed the correct amount.
So it seems like the display issue is related just to those 2 reminders; deleting and recreating the reminders seemed to resolve the issue.
Please advise if you have any other things I should test or do before proceeding with just deleting and recreating the reminders in my real Quicken file.
Thank you,
Brad

@bumgarb Based on what you’ve described, it sounds safe to continue with deleting and recreating the paycheck reminders as you did for the test entries. That should resolve the display issue for the affected reminders.
If you want to take an extra precaution due to the suspicion of data file corruption, I also recommend creating a copy of your file after you’ve corrected the reminders. Copying the file will rebuild the internal lists and database tables, which can help prevent similar issues in the future.
To create a copy, please navigate to File > Copy or Backup File... > Create a copy or template (see examples below), which will also allow you to select a date range to move forward with.
If you wish to move forward with your entire data file, please check the full date range of your entire data file before copying, so you can enter the correct date range if you do not wish to "shrink" your file by eliminating certain dates.
However, it's important to know that doing so will disconnect all online services in the copied file, and you will need to sign back in with your Quicken ID and reconnect all of your online accounts, online billers, Quicken Bill Manager services, etc. The reason for this is that the new copy also creates a new and separate dataset ID.
If you’d rather avoid the extra work of reconnecting everything, it’s perfectly fine to continue with just deleting and recreating the reminders as you have. Make sure to keep a recent backup, so you have something to revert to if any issues arise.
Hope this helps!

I fixed the Paycheck reminders in my original file. I made a backup of that file before taking any other actions.
After that, I made a Copy as you suggested. The Paycheck reminders are incorrect again in the new COPY. I made a backup of this COPY, where the reminders are messed up again.
Please advise if you think additional actions should be taken. It does make me hesitant to continue down either path now if the fixed reminder has some underlying issue that will make them incorrect again, particularly since the COPY was a step to avoid future corruptions.
Thanks!

@bumgarb Thanks for the update and for testing that—that’s very helpful. I can understand why that would feel concerning, especially since the copy was meant to help prevent future issues.
One thing I’d like to check: do you use the Quicken mobile app or Quicken on the web at all? If you don’t use those services, I suggest making sure Mobile & Web Sync is turned off:
- Edit
- Preferences
- Mobile & Web
- Sync > OFF
We’ve seen cases in the past where the sync feature caused unexpected behavior with paycheck reminders.
If you aren’t using mobile or web, turning that sync completely off may help prevent the reminders from reverting back to incorrect values.

I have verified that Edit > Preferences > Mobile and Web > Sync is OFF, as I've also read elsewhere that it causes an issue with paychecks. I have never used web or mobile, and that sync has been off for a long time.
Please advise if you have any other thoughts.
Thank you!

The other thread you provided does sound like the issue I am having, as the paycheck reminders are the only split reminders I have.
I have not done a "One Step Update" today, as I was focused on doing the previous steps you suggested. I'm going to test the Update to see if it corrupts my split reminders as mentioned in the other thread. I've reloaded my backup, where I corrected the reminders/splits this morning. I've completed a One Step Update, and the paycheck reminders are still correct.
I've closed Quicken and will check tomorrow to see if the splits are incorrect.
I'll continue to post here as I test the other thread.
Thanks!

Hello @bumgarb,
Just checking in to see how things are going with your paycheck reminders. After your last backup and One Step Update testing, are the splits still displaying correctly?
Let us know how it’s looking.

I have not been able to give this the attention it needs immediately.
I have attempted to recreate the issue from the other thread, where splits are corrupted the next day after a One Step Update. So far, so good, no corruption. I am going to attempt the suggested fix steps next, just to try to ensure no further issues.
So not fixed yet, but looking positive.

@markus1957 Would you be willing to read over all of this? I am attempting to follow your steps from a different thread, as suggested above. Maybe I am making a mistake at a point that isn't explicitly stated in the steps.
I am working with my backup from December 3rd, the last time I actually used Quicken since noticing this issue. You will recall I have to go back to October to get a backup that reflects the splits correctly, so I am trying to make the most recent QDF work.
My first pass through the steps that user "markus1957" provided:
The super validate detected 4 errors. (These were easy errors that I will fix later in this process.)As I continued through the steps, the paycheck splits in my existing data file became corrupt during step 3 or 4; I did not notice them until completing step 4, however, based on my second attempt below, it must have been step 3.
In this first go at the steps -
I noted it had 5 of 46 eligible accounts enabled
I tried manually unclicking, but that was not working... so I ended up doing a "Select All" and then "None" and that got the number down to 1 of 46.
I then checked "Show separate accounts," and then "Select All," and then "None," and that made it show 0 accounts enabled.
But it makes it 0 of 36 accounts instead of 46 like above. I am confused as to what is happening there.
I clicked Update Accounts
This brought up the stop mobile access and alerts dialogue, listing 5 accounts
I clicked OKAY, the dialog did not go away, and Quicken froze for a long time.
When I could finally click Okay again, it showed me a message about certain accounts not being available or compatible with syncing to the cloud.
I selected continue, and it began "updating accounts.
It was during this part that I noticed the paychecks' splits were off again. I assume the long delay (freeze was a sync even though I had selected just reset). So I proceeded with this suggestion from user "markus1957":
"If a Reset does not work, then a full delete of the cloud file is required. This can only be done from another open file (it can be a dummy blank file freshly created). Sync must be On to show the delete window in Edit>Preferences>Mobile & Cloud Accounts, click the "cloud accounts associated with this Quicken ID" link."I noticed it says (14) in the "Cloud accounts associated with this Quicken ID". I was shocked to see 14 accounts/files in the cloud linked to my ID when I have intentionally never used the cloud feature. Many of the files had the same name or a 1-up number of the same name, so I can at least see an opportunity for the sync to be confused and cause corruption.
So I created the blank dummy file as suggested.
And did the steps suggested to delete all of the "Cloud accounts associated with this Quicken ID" because I could not tell which would be the problem, as the majority had names that were similar to my data file. I left only the BLANK file in the cloud list, as it appears I have to leave at least 1 file (it would not let me delete the BLANK when it was the last file). At this point, I started to repeat steps on my original data file after restoring my December 3rd backup.
First, I fixed the errors from the super validate done before.
Three of the errors were TRANSFER transactions between different banks, but the transfers were not linked in Quicken, causing Quicken to mark one side of the transfers as a non-existent account. The last error was a security price that was dated in the future. I simply deleted the price and put in the price as of last Friday (Dec 12, 20025).I then repaired the splits again since these are messed up in my backup that I restored.
Next, I ran the super validate again and noted that the repairs did fix the errors with no new errors reported.
Now I did step 3 again, which is to Turn Sync On
I noted 0 eligible accounts enabled, which I thought odd since this backup before had 5 of 46.
I selected Reset your cloud data
I selected "No, just reset my Cloud data"
This brought up the stop mobile access and alerts
I clicked OKAY, and Quicken froze again for a long time at this point, like before.
When I could finally click Okay again, I clicked Okay.
It warned me that certain accounts were not available with the cloud, so I selected continue
It began resetting... but it certainly seemed like the small syncing arrow graphics showed Quicken as doing more syncing down from the cloud rather than sending data up to the cloud. While watching this, I saw the paycheck reminders with splits go to $0.00.
So the splits corrupted while attempting to sync to the cloud after having cleared out all the files from the cloud except the blank, and also having UNSELECTED or disabled all of the eligible accounts.I don't know what to do here.
The stack of stuff I need to enter is getting large, but I am unwilling to enter stuff with this split corruption happening.
I don't understand why the splits are zeroing out and why I cannot get it to stop screwing up my reminders when it is doing a sync that I don't even want it to do.Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm a couple of months down the road from the post you reference. I continued to have scrambled reminders sporadically, so I tried a few other things. I'm about 3 weeks now from having the issue. I've linked the post with my latest attempts to stop it.
In your case, I'd recommend settling on one file to work with and forget about going to backups. The backups carry their own baggage. As long as you have a file that passes a super-validate and contains your paycheck splits as you desire them, stick with that file.
Looks like you had a pretty stable file. I'd set your goal to get back to that. I'm souring on the delete of the cloud file as it still seems to look for a related file in the cloud and use it causing more trouble (or in the process of reconstructing the file). You had a lot of cloud files so it's good you got rid of them, so stop going back to old files and creating more of them.
My advice, keep super-validating your file and correcting the paycheck reminder until you get a clean super-validate report. Try refreshing your sign-in under the Help menu. Then turn On mobile sync so you can deselect all accounts from sync and deselect the cloud sync box in OSU Settings. Also, go to Mobile tab and make sure the "Sync to cloud on closing Quicken" box is unchecked. Don't reset cloud if your Paycheck stays intact. Just turn off Sync and move on.
I've got a test file I'm trying to get to 100% reproduce the sync issue but lately I've been testing beta and tax stuff so I haven't had time to work on it. My main file is working good now for 3 weeks with sync off. Hoping it stays that way.

i followed this 100%. Great advice BTW. For me, reseting the sync 5 times, yielded same result - reminder paychecks reset to $0.00 each time. So for now all sync is off, everything validated, but I am not resetting the cloud account. The paychecks have had bugs for over a year for me in many versions.

@markus1957 @cpetrovsky Thank you both for your input. I will try to get back to a validated file with no errors and no accounts selected for update. Since I got there once before, I have high hopes that I get there again and can just STOP at that point.
@Quicken Anja I have done the report a problem, provided details of the issue, screenshots, and referenced this thread which I hope the Devs will read.
I'll post again once I've completed my next attempt.
Thanks!

@markus1957 Thank you again for the link and advice in the other thread. It took six attempts to reset my data before I finally managed to prevent it from corrupting the paycheck splits. Hopefully, when I use Quicken tomorrow, it won't give any issues.
