Category entry no longer working for downloaded transactions
R65.17 Build 27.1.65.17 Previously on downloaded transactions I could click on the category and as I would type I would be able to select from the category list. Now it only shows a box to check for saving to the memorized list. And anything I type in, if not a correct category, is showing as a new category.

Hello @galebinder,
Thanks for reporting this! To help us better understand what’s happening, could you please provide a few screenshots showing what you see when trying to enter a category on downloaded transactions?
If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to your response if you are not given the option to add attachments.
Additionally, could you answer a few questions for us:
- Where is your Quicken data file stored? Is it on your local hard drive (C: Drive) or a cloud-based/external drive (e.g., OneDrive, Dropbox, USB, etc.)?
- Have you attempted any troubleshooting steps so far? If so, what were they?
- When did this issue first start occurring?
- Were there any significant changes to your system or software before the issue began (updates, new installations, etc.)?
This information will help us narrow down the cause and suggest next steps.
Thank you!

I am having the same problem on v65.29. Windows 11 build 26200.
@Anja- Local file on hard drive. There is no "troubleshooting" - type in the Category field or pick the drop down arrow, the category list should open - the category list simply DOES NOT OPEN. Please suggest your ideas of "troubleshooting". Issue started with "upgrade" to R65.29 in my case. No system changes.
Screenshot not possible because (as described in the issue) the Category List no longer pops open (hence, there is nothing to capture on a screenshot).
Category lists have been a debacle since the introduction of the forced "Save this to memorized payee list" pop-up.

I'm a little puzzled … when I click on an existing register transaction's Category field that only has a single category assigned to it, the following shows:
The Category field is now highlighted. And yes, the Category selection list does not pop up … which appears to be a recent change, IIRC … however, there's a down-arrow button next to it (see red box in image above) which, when clicked, will bring up the Category Selection List.
For transactions with a Split Category list, there is a green checkmark button. When clicked it will bring up the Split Transaction Detail view.
Conclusion:
If this was a recent change, it now takes an extra click to open the Category Selection List … which makes working with several transactions in a row to edit categories a little more cumbersome.0 -
I have the same issue since updates. Was ALWAYS (for years) bringing up the correct category automatically. Now none. For example, "Market Basket" brought up groceries. No longer. Any transaction. How could that be missed in Beta testing?????
Online billers also more broken but for another thread.

Sometimes Quicken settings are changed when you install an update.
Go to Edit > Preferences > Data Entry and QuickFill and make sure the options you normally use are selected. The settings I use are as shown here:
While you are at it, check your backup settings, since these important settings are also often changed.
Please let us know if you find that your settings have changed unexpectedly.

Good thought, Jim. But for me, Quickfill and Backup just as expected.
The category fill itself has changed with update. Now opens as shown above by another user with checkbox to remember. That did not happen before.

All working again as of late yesterday. Go figure.
