My Capital One savings & credit card accounts have different logins, but Quicken won't differentiate

I don't check into quicken all the time - and didn't realize you had tried to answer my question before you closed the discussion so now I have to start over and to be honest I'm losing patience with Quicken. It works and then it doesn't work and I have to start over. My schedule is so busy - that now I went back into quicken and it's doing the same thing with Capital One again. Here's what I wrote originally. BTW I never received a notice from Quicken that there was a response to my original question.

Hi THERE

I have a Capital One savings account and several Capital One credit cards. They have different logilns but I just updated one and tried to update the cards, and it kept logging me in to the savings account versus the credit card account. I have tried to disconnect and start again, and it keeps logging me into the wrong account.

This has happened before, but it had been fine for a while. Now it's back. My Quicken Classic is updated on my MacBook Pro. I'm using the desktop app. How can I log out so I can update my credit card accounts? It won't let me no matter what I do. It looks like it has the card account as the only choice for Capital One. But like I said, they have two separate logins. Please advise what to do.

To clarify, is the problem you're encountering that whichever login credentials you use first stay logged in on Capital One's website, making it impossible to authorize the accounts under the other set of credentials? If that is what's happening, then there are a few things you can try.

    • Temporarily set a different browser as your default, then authorize the accounts under the other credentials.
      • Using a different web browser should force Capital One to see it as a new connection and prompt you to log in.
    • Wait for the connection to time out (usually 15-30 minutes) before attempting to connect the accounts under the other credentials.
      • For security, most financial institutions will automatically log a session out after a set amount of time.
    • Navigate to Capital One's website, then log in and log back out again.

I look forward to your reply!

I think I was able to choose Capital one New and redo the account. The problem with that almost all my accounts now is that it's erased all my transactions before the end of 2024!! I opened a backup from 12/25 and it had all the accounts correct but the totals were messed. I didn't check to see that maybe I didn't click the date in the account so that could have been why.

The question is between All my accounts now, why when Quicken updated, did it erase everything before 11/2024? I want to keep all my data as I need it for business. I don't want to have to go searching for it in an old back up file. So notably Capital One and Bank of America so far - but I'm checking the others. BA shows a new live balance on 11/24/24 - I've had the account since I was a teenager and have been using quicken when it was a standalone software. To be honest, I did better inputting each individual transaction than this subscription. it makes so many errors and I ahve to go through everything and correct it but the biggest error now is that it has erased my history of transactions. How can I get it back? Go to the back up and try and copy the missing transactions ? For all the accounts it's done that to? Or is there a better way.

Oh and BTW I do have notifications clicked i see it when I log on via the browser. But I never received an email and checked my spam just now and didn't see anything from Quicken.

Thanks for your help with straightening this mess out. I'm very computer savvy but this is taking up way too much of my time.

    Thank you for your reply,

Since there is already a separate discussion for that issue, I replied in the other discussion.

    Thank you!
