Investments only updating Closing Price. Not updating high, low or volume

Starting on April 6, 2025, Quicken Business and Personal (Canada) Version R66.26 has an issue in the stock price update. The closing price for each stock is updating, but the high, low, and volume are not.

Has anyone else had this issue?

    Hello @Scouter_Don,

Thanks for reaching out to tell us about this issue!

To better assist you, could you please provide the following details?

    • Where is your Quicken data file stored? Is it on your local hard drive (C: Drive) or a cloud-based/external drive (e.g.: OneDrive, DropBox, USB, etc.)?
      • Please provide the exact file path as shown in the example below. image.png
    • Have you attempted any troubleshooting steps so far? If so, what were they?
    • Are you using a VPN while updating your accounts? If so, does disabling it make any difference?
    • Do you have any antivirus or malware protection software running that may be interfering with Quicken? If so, have you tried temporarily disabling it to see if the issue persists?
    • When did this issue first start occurring?
    • Were there any significant changes to your system or software before the issue began (updates, new installations, etc.)?

Your answers will help us diagnose the issue more effectively.

I (SuperUser) am having the same problem reported here.

My Quicken data file is stored on my local C: drive in compliance with Quicken best practices.

    Data file Path: C:\Users\myname\Documents\Quicken

I am not using a VPN.

I use Norton 360, which does not interfere with Quicken.

There are long running issues (measured in years) with getting security quote updates in Canada.

No significant changes to system or software associated with this problem.

Actually, in all candor, I'm having a worse problem than described above - some stocks do not get a price at all, for example:

Note that when the quotes are missing the high, low, and volume, that is an indication that the quote came from the broker not Quicken Inc's third-party quote service.

You normally see this in securities that aren't publicly traded. But I guess it can also happen if for whatever reason the quote server is failing to return the information.

If Quicken gets a price from their third-party quote service for that day that will override the one they get from the download of the broker transactions/summary data.

@Chris_QPW that may be your experience in the USA but my experience in Canada is vastly different. Firstly, there are almost zero brokers that support transaction download to Quicken in Canada; there are a few, but it is a very small minority. Secondly, the Canadian third party security info provider is different between Canada and the USA, which allows for the possibility for different behaviour. The Canadian data feed is notoriously incomplete and problematic.

To support my argument, here is a screen shot of a publicly traded security where ALL the data came from Quicken's 3rd party feed. Note that high/low/volume data is missing.

Yes, I forgot about the fact that there are almost no Canadian brokers that download data.

Well in that case, I think it impossible for you to get the prices without the other data from the quote service for any other reason than that the quote service isn't sending it. Well, there is a slight chance that Quicken was changed in a way that does parse/load it, but I doubt that.

The point is that there is no way the suggested things like VPNs, malware, or such can be the cause. With those it would be all or none.

I concur. What is discussed here is one of the many problems with the security price info from the 3rd party provider. Weird F/X rates is another. I've raised this many times and the problems never seem to be addressed or resolved. And, I agree, the questions posed by the moderator are moot. I answered them in an attempt to move past the smokescreen. There is a long running problem with the security price info for Canadians that Quicken doesn't seem to have any appetite to address. It seems to be a take what you get situation…

OK, I wasn't sure of what I was looking at when I tried putting in NFI in Quicken Windows US yesterday, but now I'm sure I'm seeing the right thing.

Given your screenshot, I setup NFI. You will notice that the US version doesn't have an Exchange box, but we can use the exchange like TSE:XXX.

    image.png

The US feed is getting all this information.

    image.png

I notice that yours doesn't even have the exchange in it.

And there you have it. Imagine how frustrating it is that you - in the USA - can get all the detailed information about a major stock that trades on the TSE, but I can't even get a price!

This is a wonderful example of how frustrating it can be to be a Canadian Quicken user and how we are underserviced in relation to the USA customers.

I just noticed something in your second screenshot that might point towards a bug in Quicken Windows Canadian depending on what the price history looks like.

The Quote box doesn't have the volume in it, but the Volume chart has data in it:

    Hello All,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention! I tested in my Quicken files (US and Canada) and saw the same behavior that you described. I forwarded this to the proper channels for further investigation and resolution.

    Thank you!
