Opened Quicken to this:[
No mention of this on Manual Patch web site and no mention here. Also no Release Notes in Quicken under Help tab.
So, what does this release bring to us?
It's showing up now via Help - Release Notes
Still not seeing it in my Quicken Premier. What does it say?
Here are the Release Notes. It looks like there are some long-sought improvements. These are visible before you commit to installing the update, or after the installation is complete.

I see R68.12 in Help - Release Notes but not R68.25. So, did they skip actually releasing R68.12 due to some issues and instead jumped ahead to R68.25? Here are the Release Notes for R68.12…which I am assuming are also included in R68.25 ( https://info.quicken.com/win/version-r68-12-june-2026 ):

Neither of these versions are showing up yet in the Support Article: https://www.quicken.com/support/update-and-patch-20182019-release-quicken-windows-subscription-product/#section-windows-5 .
It does appear that R68.25 is probably a limited release which is typical for new releases. They initially release it to a limited number of subscribers for a few days to get feedback on how well it is performing before making it a general release.
I have experimented briefly with the new Qualified Dividend feature and here is what I see:
I see this:
Example
I compared my Quicken entries for my Schwab Monthly Mutual Fund with my 2025 1099 and all of my Dividends in the 1099 were Qualified Dividends.
There were no amounts in the 2025 1099 Dividends for this fund.
@Boatnmaniac Even with limited release of R68.25 the Release Notes should be there in Quicken….
Second computer shows the same…
I was hoping for more out of the enhancement for qualified dividends. From my perspective, the new feature does not go far enough.
The new check box is an all or nothing approach - i.e., the dividend is either all qualified or all non-qualified.
A large portion of my investment holding is managed and held in mutual funds. Not only do I see Qualified Dividends (Form 1099-DIV, line 1b), but I’m also seeing Section 199A Dividends (Form 1099-DIV, line 5). Just like Qualified Dividends, Section 199A Dividends are portion of Total Ordinary Dividends reported line 1a. Depending on the fund a single dividend payout can involve qualified dividends, non-qualified dividends, and Section 199A dividends.
Those look like R.68.12 Notes…. Not R68.25….
Limited releases usually do not have the Release Notes published in Support or Help. They will be published when the Manual Patch Update File is available for downloading.
That being said, the Release Notes will be available for review if/when you are prompted after OSU to update to the limited release in the OSU Summary Report. But the number of users who will get this prompt is restricted to a limited number of people. Once it becomes a general release the Release Notes for it will also be available in Help > Release Notes.
Have you run OSU today? If so, then perhaps your OSU Summary will provide the update prompt. Click on that to see the Release Notes for it.
If you have run OSU and did not get the prompt to update to R68.25 then it usually means the number of users needed for the limited release has been obtained and they have closed the update option. In this case, you will need to wait until R68.25 becomes a general release. The time between limited and general releases is fairly short and generally is anywhere from 1-7 days.
Many times I see Release Notes with Limited Release and when I get notice, as shown in first post I read the Notes after clicking not to install. Strange you see R68.12 Notes and I don't. And I see R68.25 could be installed and you don't. I see no Notes for either relese..
Are your investments in a taxable brokerage account or in some deferred income account like an IRA or 401(k)?
If they are in a taxable brokerage account then the qualified and non-qualified dividends distinction is important from a tax perspective.
But if they are in a deferred income account then it really has no impact.
This is because R67.10 is the version you currently have installed.
They are taxable funds.
Another strange thing about this release is that the Help > What's new in Quicken that goes with it describes "Retail purchase categorization," which it claims can automatically split and categorize Amazon charges, but that is not mentioned anywhere in the Release notes. There is a new section in Preferences to set this up.
That "Amazon" feature seems to be peeking in and out for some time now. 😉
FYI: R68.25 has now been pushed out as a general release. The Manual Patch Update file is available for downloading and the Release Notes are now posted at https://www.quicken.com/support/update-and-patch-20182019-release-quicken-windows-subscription-product/#section-windows-5 .
Edit: It was confirmed to me by a Moderator that R68.25 does include the updates that were in never released R68.12.
Hello @Jim_Harman,
Retail Purchase Categorization is currently available to a very limited number of customers. For more information on the feature, please see this help article: https://info.quicken.com/win/using-retail-purchase-categorization
Thank you!
