Last February I posted
about an issue with investments suddenly showing up as unclassified. It has just happened again and the suggestion that worked then doesn't seem to work now. This is getting old.
I edited to make the link more usable.
Thanks, hopefully someone can provide a fix.
Hello @mcski,
Thank you for reaching out! I'm not able to replicate the issue you're encountering. To help troubleshoot, please provide more information:
I look forward to your reply!
I'm having the same problem. Here is more information from my experience if that helps:
First noticed a few weeks ago, but I haven't used XRAY for a while. Rolled all the way back to R65.29 and it works fine.
Rolled forward to R66.11 and the problem reappears from that release forward.
Quicken data is a local file, not synced with any cloud service.
Asset class has nothing to do with it. Every portfolio ETF is treated as Not Classified (and none of their holdings show up in the Stock Intersection).
Kristina,
I noticed the issue within the last two weeks. I have a local file and back it up with a cloud service. I don't know if that is when I upgraded to v 68.31. As Fred says, it seems to be an issue with all ETF's.
@Fred Coale @mcski Are your ETFs all from Vanguard, or from other brokers? Other reports have linked this issue to Vanguard ETFs.
Thank you for your replies,
Based on your description, it sounds like you're encountering the same issue discussed here:

Thank you!
So, it seems it does have something to do with Vanguard and iShares ETFs at Schwab. When viewed individually each stock fund shows 100% cash. When the whole account is viewed it shows up as mostly uncategorized. All holdings at Vanguard and Fidelity appear to be correct.
Thanks Kristina, I may do that later. I don't have time to do it now.
Same issue with unclassified ETFs BUG returned.

Thank you for submitting your logs, @miklk.
(CTP-18131)
Vanguard and iShares stock ETF's held at Schwab are categorized as Cash when each ETF is viewed individually. The portfolio and individual accounts holding the ETF's don't show the same high cash value, instead they shows a large share of unclassified holdings. My holdings at other brokerages appear to be correct.
Thank you for providing those additional details. This is helpful information for the investigation.
Since this issue is currently being tracked under CTP-18131, please submit a problem report through Help > Report a Problem with your log files attached.

Thank you for your help and patience while this is being looked into!
I've been noticing this issue as well. Currently 25% of my portfolio is marked as 'unclassified'. I've tried various subsets of accounts and securities to see if it was related to certain securities. I'm pretty sure that all my Motley Fool ETFs are now unclassified but only account for about 5% of my holdings. I used to see them listed in the Stock Intersection but no longer do. But if this isn't fixed the value of the X-ray is close to nil.
I followed up on rolling back Quicken to an earlier version. SUCCESS!! I went step by step and found that for me R65.29 worked. All my ETF were assigned and I have fairly high confidence in the X-ray results for Stock Intersection. The AI stuff, some of the graphing and benchmark don't provide much benefit or my confidence in their accuracy.
I'm not sure why this is shown as answered. Others have described similar issues, but other than rolling back to an older version I don't believe a solution has been offered.
Thank you for your reply,
The "Answered" icon doesn't mean an answer has been accepted. It just means that one or more posters have responded.
When an answer is accepted, the icon will change to "Answered" with a checkmark next to it.
I hope this helps!
Thank you, Kristina. I'm relieved it is still open. I'm hoping the fix is coming soon. I have an alternative tool for rebalancing decisions, but it's not optimal.
Well, now it has an Answered with a check mark, but that answer wasn't about the issue with Morningstar X-ray.
That's because someone accepted my response about why it was showing as answered. I cleared it since the main issue has been reported but isn't yet resolved.
Thank you, that makes sense.
